	Taral is a young Bajoran woman who, like most Bajorans, had to suffer through the Cardassian Occupation of her homeworld. Once the Cardassian forces had left Bajor, Taral felt she had to leave too. She did not want to remain on Bajor in case the Cardassians returned. So she fled her home and headed for Earth. Once there she decided to join Starfleet and entered the Academy.
