Par grew up somewhat sheltered from the hardships other people endure. His family were never wealthy or even well-off, but his parents were patient, loving, and prefered to avoid burdening their offspring overly much. | |||
Par awakened at ten with his telepathic and empathic abilities, early but not traumatically so. He learned how to deal with his abilities and continued on with his life. He graduated from medical school on Betazed, finished the first two years of his residency in Psychiatry, specializing in wholistic approaches. | |||
Then the Dominion came, his planet fell, his people were killed and enslaved, and his best friend died in his arms. When the occupation was over he determined that Betazoid passivity was not the best choice for protecting themselves, and joined StarFleet, hoping that he could learn how to put the war behind him, especially his anger, perhaps even hatred of the Jem'haddar and Vorta. This anger shames him and he does not speak of his feelings about this subject openly. | |||
