Doz Finch

<br><big>Doz Finch is a woman whose career in Starfleet has been anything but ordinary; originally the youngest child of four, when her brothers left Earth to pursue Starfleet careers, they left her to deal with their miserable and deeply troubled mother, throwing the most important years of her teenage life into gloom. It was her engineer brother Wallace who ironically planted within her the seed of escape. Suggesting during an argument that she filled her time by learning how to repair things while he was gone, he armed her not only with frustration, but also with the key to her discovering her own abilities. Some years later, and encouraged by her best friend Murphy, she catapulted herself into an enlisted career, and the rest as they say was history. But it's never that simple — forty years on and after the sudden and tragic death of Murphy, Doz leaves the enlisted ranks and becomes an officer, and all of the things she left behind start to rear their dusty heads. </big>
