Using cheeky - and quite possibly flirty - humour early on, Max planted the seeds of what would become an especially close friendship. Despite a few close moments of 'will they, won't they?' the friendship was too strong to be disrupted in such a way. Mirra's kidnapping and severe wounding at the hands of Chennel - due to the treachery of a civilian scientist - was the catalyst for Max's outburst of extreme violence that almost cost him his career.
