According to Homer this shield was designed for Zeus by Hephaestus (the Greek god of technology, blacksmiths, craftsmen, artisans, sculptors, metals and metallurgy, and fire equivalent to Vulcan in Roman mythology.) Hephastus furnished "Ægis" with golden tassels around a Gorgoneion (i.e. Medusa's head) at its centre. It was said that when Zeus shook ægis, then Mount Ida would become shrouded in clouds, thunder would roar and mortal men would be filled with fear. Zeus would sometimes lend "Ægis" to Athena (Zeus' companion and Goddess of Heroic endeavour) and to Apollo (god of medicine and healing, light, truth, archery and also a bringer of death-dealing plague) whom according to the Iliad used it to charge the Achaeans, and push them back to their ships on the shore. | According to Homer this shield was designed for Zeus by Hephaestus (the Greek god of technology, blacksmiths, craftsmen, artisans, sculptors, metals and metallurgy, and fire equivalent to Vulcan in Roman mythology.) In the early part of 2393 the USS Aegis launched from Star Base 118 under the Command of Commander [[Sal Taybrim]], to head to Tilanna V to investigate a drug called An All Time High. The new CAG Lt. JG. [[Antero Flynn]] was tasked with finding a Civilian smugglers Shuttle in the impound hanger and moving it over to the Aegis for use on the mission. Lt. Commander [[Baylen Anders]] converted the lower Cargo Hold into a Science lab to safely house and research the drugs with Lt. JG [[Mirra Ezo]] and Dr.[[Arden Cain]]. The Science lab is modular and can be beamed down to the planet if needed. | In the early part of 2393 the USS Aegis launched from Star Base 118 under the Command of Commander [[Sal Taybrim]], to head to Tilanna V to investigate a drug called An All Time High. The USS Aegis' dedication plaque bears the inscription: "Ut incepit fidelis sic permanet." This is the ancient Earth language Latin for "Loyal she began, loyal she remains" and is also the motto of the Province of Ontario on Earth. | The USS Aegis' dedication plaque bears the inscription: "Ut incepit fidelis sic permanet."
