Maddy stayed overnight with Lael's mother while Lael attended the party which was intended to celebrate the official commissioning of the ''Chin'toka''. As she entered the Officer's Mess, she was met by Lephi, her fellow engineer. After a brief discussion, Elizabeth Snow joined them. It wasn't long before Lael spotted a familiar face in the crowd: Jo Marshall. She encouraged Lephi to come with her so that she could introduce the young Ferengi woman. She approached Jo and two other officers she didn't know to find Toryn and Journs had also joined the conversation. Their conversation, however, was interrupted by Admiral Kove attempting to gain their attention. The Admiral gave a brief speech and introduced the ''Chin'toka'''s new commanding officer. She stood listening respectfully as the ''Chin'toka'' crew welcomed three new officers, Lieutenant Noa T'Nessa Levinson, Ensign Varik Tal’Aura and Ensign Paros as well as changes in duty posts for Toryn, Logan, and McKnight, all of whom were named as members of the new Strategic Operations Response Team with Toryn to lead it. After the last of the promotion announcements, Lael pulled Lephi aside to talk to the Ferengi woman about her first official project as Assistant Chief: the second christening that the Captain had approved to take place in Engineering before the official launch.
