'''Mirkl Zanti''' (MEER-kuhl ZAN-tee) is a somewhat anxious, bright-eyed 22-year-old unjoined Trill. Having specialized in xenobiology and xenology at [[Starfleet Academy]], he dreams of missions to pre-warp civilizations, pre-first contact cultural observations, first contacts, "second contacts" and other diplomatic missions, evaluating planets for the potential for the evolution of sentient life, archaeological research of ancient advanced civilizations, and exploring uncharted space/space that has only recently been opened up to Federation research. His fantasy is to live to see--or, even better, to be a part of--a reestablishment of contact with the [[Delta Quadrant]]. Mirkl has always wanted to be joined but is starting to lose hope that that will ever happen and is unsure what that means for his value as a person and the direction of his life. He has large brown eyes, dark brown hair, and typical brown-orange Trill spots that run from the crown of his head down to the sides of his feet.
