!style="width:1000px;text-align:left;" | A Xenobiologist, Kiden Lahr was always fascinated in the dual nature of his people, helping the Trill Science Academy to study the joining his entire life.  Despite his interest in biology, specifically the symbiosis, Kiden was very much like his daughter in that he never actually had any interest in being a host.  Understanding this, he was never disappointed in her for not attempting an application.  His only wish for his often wayward daughter was that she finally did find a passion in life - a thing that she felt was worth her pursuit.  The two are extremely close, and keep in regular contact, with Kiden constantly peppering his daughter with questions about the new lifeforms she encounters in Starfleet

!style="width:1000px;text-align:left;" | When Chana was only two years old, her mother died from a strange macrovirus which claimed the lives of a few thousand on Trill.  As much as Chana loves her father, the lack of a female role model in her life contributed to some of her listlessness in her younger years.  Aside from pictures and stories, Chana has no memories of her mother.

Chana is extremely shy, and very uncomfortable in new situations.  Although she is friendly once you get to know her, few have actually managed the feat.  She is a capable enough engineer, though not brilliant, but her biggest flaw is a lack of belief in herself.
