==Forming a Government==
Duronis II is divided into provinces. Each province is divided into electoral areas. Each electoral area = 1 seat in Parliament. (There are 700 electoral areas)
The Laudean with the most votes in a political area will win that seat in parliament.
It is therefore possible for a party to have 50% of the planetwide vote but only 10% of the parliamentary seats –either because all their voters may live in one area or because their voters are spead too thinly across the planet!
The Laudean Parliament has 700 seats in it.
To form a government you must win 301 seats.
If you form a government with 301 seats you will be a minority government (as the opposition have more seats) and it will be hard to pass any legislation.
Political parties may form coaltions. The coalition with the most seat will form the government.
The leader of the political party with the most seats is the Planetwide leader. Prime Minister.
NB: Provincial governments still wield a lot of power.

::Rocar took the padd over to the sofa in the corner and started to read the padd as Shartara left him alone.::
//With 50% of the vote now in, its a near neck and neck race to the finish. If something doesn't break lose soon, none of the parties will have the 246 seats out of 501 in parliament to have a majority and form a government. WE urge you to get out and vote or the parties may have to form coalitions after elections to form a government.
Paetra Zrong representing the Popularist Party - 37,249 votes
Zeon Zrong representing the Neo-Modernist Party - 36,438 votes
Ahishma Chandra representing the Naturalists - 35,143 votes
Oluwa Dela OKande representing the Royalists - 35,101 votes
Benu Hashiwa representing the Traditionalists - 34,928 votes//
Rocar: oO Of course if the votes were spread out over the planet and the seats come from each province that means very little. The tradionalists could have 20% of the vote but still only hold 10% of the seats in parliament as they would not of won any electoral areas outrightOo
Rocar: Computer convert votes per location and tell me the number of seats each party has in the new parliament on Duronis II
Computer:
Popularist Party            261
Neo-Modernist Party    256
Naturalists   92
Royalists                        36 seats
Traditionalists                55 seats

Rocar: oO You need 301 seats in parliament to form a government and even then if you had only 301 seats you’d still be a minority government…. Either Zrong can still form a government if they get the other parties to join them in coalition –or perhaps they will form a coalition together. Oo
::Rocar frowned and went back to reading his padd.::
