After her stunning graduation speech and her small family reunion with her father, she was hit hard by the reality of the fact that her father was an unhappy and dying man as he was just diagnosed with lung cancer and he had every intention to kill himself after selling everything and leaving her with his vast fortune. When she was in college at NYU, before she joined Starfleet Academy, she was raped, tortured and nearly murdered by a fellow student in her psychology class. Aurora endured this for a full week before she finally managed to escape with her life by blasting her attacker with his own phaser. Sadly, this week of rape, torture, and near death left her scared not only physically and psychologically, but also resulted in the birth of her daughter, Jazmine Ame James, who Aurora gave up for adoption right after her birth. | |||
Aurora misses her daughter and sometimes regrets her decision to give her up, but knows that Jazmine is growing up with a loving family who can provide her with safety that is completely unaffiliated with Starfleet.
