(( Corridors, USS Apollo ))

:: Sun and Shel had once again left Jaxx's company after dinner and the tour she promised her brother, Sun wanted to go visit with Jalana. She wasn't sure what her brother was up to, but now that he knew where things were, he could have been finding a way to entertain himself without taking up their time constantly. Either way, she let him be, as she made her way towards sickbay with some of the chocolate cake that was being served for dessert. ::

(( Sickbay, Deck 5, USS Apollo ))

:: Once she made it through the corridors and down to Deck 5, where her friend and previous boss worked, she entered through the sickbay doors. Looking around she saw no one, which meant sickbay was quiet. She hoped Jalana was there, and she wasn't interrupting anything. She glanced over at the PADDs that were reserved for medical journal reading, maybe she'd pick up one of them on the way out. ::

Faranster: Jalana? :: She called out. ::

:: Jalana had spent a bit of time with Viktor, but he had some things to do, so she had decided to check on Sick Bay. That and she needed something to help her tonight. Those dreams had come back every night since Izar and that was not really a refreshing sleep. She’d been gradually becoming more and more tired, while playing it over when someone else was around, and that would be affecting her work sooner or later. The first thing she thought of was, that she could take something to turn those dreams off, at least for a little bit so she would get some good long sleep again for once.::

:: The Trill had checked for the meds they had available and took one of the vials and filled a hyprospray with it, while heading into her office. Just when she was done she heard Sundassa’s voice. With a single fluid motion she dropped the hypospray in the pocket of her coat, to borrow it for the night..::

Laxyn: ::A little louder:: In my office!

:: She heard the voice respond, and made her way back towards the Chief Medical Officer's office. ::

Faranster: I'm coming back there, just a social call, if you are up for cake...

Laxyn: Am I ever! How could I resist cake?

::Jalana grinned widely, she loved cake and sweets. Possibly a good idea to keep up that bit of walking training she had gotten on Eridea to not gain some pounds. She hadn’t trained in ages, what a role model of a doctor she was. Eating sweets and not getting her butt up outside of the job. That thought made her giggle.::

:: When she entered the office, she was glad to see she wasn't disturbing too much work. It would have been cruel to cause her friend to have work pile up just so she could talk. She smiled as she talked. ::

Faranster: Just finished dinner, and decided that I hadn't been down here for a little bit. Thought you wouldn't mind some cake and company... and possibly, some girl talk?

:: The Trill raised her brow and sat down on the edge of her desk, pulling herself up enough so her feet left the ground.::

Laxyn: Now that sounds like something I always have time for. Make yourself a home.

Faranster: I'll just pull up a chair.

:: Sun placed the container that had the cake in it, down for a moment while she located a chair and pulled it next to the desk. Once she did, she noticed her friend's gesture for some cake, and opened the package, containing two pieces of cake. ::

Laxyn: ::She clapped into her hands and then extended her arms making the grabby hands gesture:: Now… I heard something about cake!

Faranster: Yup, there's two pieces, I made sure to bring enough for both of us.

:: She smiled and pulled one of the small plates out of the container and located a small fork and handed both to her friend. It seemed like every time she ate with Jaxx, she always ended up getting something chocolate, but he rarely ate it. She grinned at the thought she had about him trying to entice her or something to being there, not that he needed to. ::

:: Jalana grinned widely as she took the cake and licked her lips. She was quite sure that someone could coax her into a lot with offering some cake, cookies, chocolate or ice cream. She wondered if Viktor knew that or if she had been successful hiding that. Hah, that was a hilarious thought. Hiding it. Pft. She took the small fork and cut a small piece off it before bringing it to her mouth. Jal closed her eyes and enjoyed the taste of it, melting on her tongue.::

Laxyn: Mhmmm that is good. What is it?

Faranster: Freshly made chocolate cake, I think this is what is traditionally made on earth... Not using any replicated ingredients.

:: She picked up the remaining plate and fork, and took a bite of her cake. It was delicious, but for a moment she wished she had thought ahead and brought some milk or water or something to wash it down. ::

Laxyn: ::Remembering the preference for fresh food:: Don’t tell me you made it yourself?

Faranster: No... I can cook, but my brother is better at it than me. But the ship's chef made it for us tonight, I think it was made by special request of Jaxx's for Shel and myself... But I never know for sure, maybe the chef is just used to me ordering chocolate.

:: She shoved another bite into her mouth before her grin could get too big, she didn't just want to blurt out that she was dating the Captain, she wanted to have some sort of composure about it. She already acted childish enough for one day. ::

:: Jalana looked up to Sun, finding it rather nice of Andrus to request some special cake from the chef. She could not remember if she ever got anything from the chef, but with her using the replicator and having Vik cooking for them, that was not really necessary anyway.::

Laxyn: You seem to like your chocolate. ::smirking::

Faranster: You could say that... But today was a special occasion, with my brother visiting.

Laxyn: Really? You must be excited. I hope I get to know him while he’s here.

Faranster: I'll make sure you get introduced. Of my family, I enjoy spending time with him the most. Even though he is five years older than me.

:: She was pretty sure that might have been why he was her favorite, as he wasn't her parent, so he didn't have authority over her, and he was always willing to go on an adventure with her. Even if he thought it was a bad idea, he would still go to make sure she didn't get hurt, and he would suggest ways to prevent her from getting into trouble. Sometimes he even took the blame for her. ::

:: Jalana brought another fork to her lips, as her thoughts wandered to her own brother. She had not spoken with him for a long time, since she had left for the Academy. She had not contacted her family at all since then, well apart from the one time she had tried and only gotten the cold shoulder from her father, right before he had closed the connection. The worry to get the same reaction again had been the reason she had not tried it again. She pushed the thought away. It was not the time to get all gloomy, when Sun had told her the great news of seeing her brother.::

Laxyn: It’s great that you have such a good connection to him. Not everyone would get their siblings here for a visit ::smirking::

Faranster: I didn't tell you why he came all this way to visit me... He came to bring my stuff from home. :: She took another bite of cake, carefully chewing and swallowing before she finished what she was saying. :: And, I think he came to check up on the guy I am seeing...

Laxyn: Oh that’s good. Having your stuff here is …. .oO Wait a second Oo. :: She put the fork down and looked at Sun.:: Did you just say you are seeing someone?

:: She smiled, knowing she got Jalana's full attention. Gossip was definitely fun, but now she was the subject of her own information, and she was ready to dish. Now she just needed to figure out how she was going to dole out the information. ::

Faranster: Yes, I am.

Laxyn: Why am I hearing only now about this? ::Curiously she leaned forward.:: Where did you meet? How long are you seeing each other? Is he nice? Of course he is… you wouldn’t see him otherwise.. ::blinking slightly:: Who is it?

:: It took her a moment to figure out exactly how she was going to answer each question, and she started in order, but she ignored the first question, just because it would become more evident in her answers. ::

Faranster: We met a while back... But we started seeing each other on Izar. He's an important member of the ship's staff. :: She knew she was being vague, but it was part of the fun in telling her friend. ::

Laxyn: :: Her eyes grew bigger with every piece of information she got, but one thing she had not heard yet. :: But who is it? You are not telling me all this and then leave that out, right?

Faranster: While it is fun to avoid the answer, I actually came down here to make sure you were one of the first to know. Especially since we defined our relationship, and aren't going to be hiding it as much. :: She wasn't sure of the phrasing to use, on the revelation. :: I've been spending a lot of time with Jaxx lately, a lot of time, and we decided to make it exclusive.

:: The Trill watched her friend at this revelation. Though the biggest surprise for Jalana was, that she was not as surprised as she possibly should have been. There had been short little moments since … maybe since before Izar that had made her stop and think just for a moment, but she had always pushed it aside, thinking it was humbug. Now it fell into shape and made sense. ::

Laxyn: That’s fantastic. ::She smiled and grabbed her plate again.:: Now it makes sense that you didn’t tell me about it before. ::She shoveled another piece of cake into her mouth, eating it a bit more ‘bouncy’ than before. ::

Faranster: Part of me liked having the information to myself, no one judging me, or saying mean things behind my back. Dating the Captain and all...

Laxyn: Why would I do that? I am happy for you. And for him. He always works too much, I’m glad he has someone to watch out for him and to brighten his day.

Faranster: :: She shrugged. :: I don't think I was really afraid you would, but, I am sure that there might be someone. So I wanted to be secure in my relationship before making waves. :: She smiled at the thought of her brightening Jaxx's day. It wasn't something she entirely missed, sometimes she was caught up in him a bit to miss it initially, but she knew they both had that effect on each other. Although, now she also had someone to worry about as well as smile about. ::

Laxyn: Okay, there is one thing. How does it work out with you being his new First Officer? I could imagine that it isn’t easy to keep that apart.

Faranster: Not really, the man keeps getting himself into dangerous situations. I try to focus on work when I am on the job, so I try to look at it from certain point of view, but once we leave the office, I try to leave the XO at work.

Laxyn: Is it that easy to just brush it off at the door?

:: Sun thought about several conversations she had with Jaxx, where she had to ask him which side of him was in front of her. It was difficult figuring that out sometimes without help, and she knew it was a conversation she needed to have with him again so they could develop a system. ::

Faranster: It is difficult trying to figure out which Jaxx stands before me sometimes... I am still working on a solution to that, trying to figure out whether I am going to get orders, or be swept into his arms. It can be disorienting sometimes.

Laxyn: ::smiling about that she nodded:: I know how that feels.

:: She did remember the many times she wanted to run into Viktor’s arms and just was held back by the knowledge that they were neither alone nor off duty. Then there were times like after the away mission to Quartal, when she had heard that things went wrong and the second she’d seen Viktor on Sick Bay she had not cared that it was duty and inappropriate. She had just hurried to his side to make sure that he was okay. Sometimes the split between job and private life was as as easily possible as usual. And based on the next Sundassa said, she knew that already as well. ::

Faranster: But there are some times when I don't have to entirely split the two facets of who I am, and they can be on the same page, like when he puts himself in dangerous situations. I can be equally upset personally as well as professionally, I just need to figure out which reaction is better suited to the situation.

Laxyn: :: Nodding:: There is quite a difference in telling him as his XO and telling him as his girlfriend.

:: Jalana always found it weird to call adult women someone’s girlfriend, she might have to find a better word for that maybe. But for now that was the first word popping into her mind.::

Faranster: :: Nodding. :: How do you manage? You were involved with Lanius while he was First Officer.

:: When they got back from her first mission, Sun suspected something had been going on between her friend and the First Officer, the reaction of concern was very much written on the Chief Medical Officer's face at the time. She added that to the note passing she did for the two prior to the mission. But it wasn't her place to have said anything or spread gossip, she didn't know who knew or if it was secret. ::

Laxyn: I usually try to keep that kind of thing just under four eyes, but every couple has different methods. I’m pretty sure that you two will figure it out in time.

Faranster: It will definitely be a challenge worth figuring out. :: She was glad to be talking to her friend about everything. :: I just hope you don't mind talking to me while I figure it out.

Laxyn: ::grinning:: Of course. You do know where you can find me if you need some girl to girl talk. Some things are just not for the ears of the men ::chuckling::

:: Sun laughed with her friend, she was right, some things were best to talk among the girls. Men didn't usually understand the bond of good gal pals, and what they told each other. It helped them deal with frustrations, and brainstorm. Also, their sharing their experiences, helped them figure out what they liked, desired and dream of. ::

Faranster: Sounds like you are experienced in this stuff.

Laxyn: I would not call myself experienced, actually Viktor is the first serious relationship, everything before was just for .. fun, you know? So it is good to have someone to bounce ideas and thoughts off with. Couldn’t say I had the chance for that aboard before.

:: There were those among her people that enjoyed the less serious types of relationships. And there were times she wished she was able to even think about a casual relationship, she loved with her whole heart, and nothing less. Her relationship with Marseen was good, but she could never pinpoint where their friendship changed to love. Whereas, with Jaxx, there was always a connection, a draw to him, and she could pinpoint when things shifted. ::

Faranster: :: Having a friend to share those things with, would be good for Sun, and seemed like it was something welcomed by her friend as well. :: Then, we'll have to be there for each other, through the bumps and joys of our relationships. :: She smiled at Jalana as she took a bite of cake. :: By the way, how are things with you, and Viktor?

Laxyn: They are going well. He has some work to do but we’ll planned to have a quiet evening together.

Faranster: Got any of your wedding plans made, yet? Or are you still taking your time?

Laxyn: ::laughing slightly:: If being on a mission and busy with work is taking time, then we do that. But we got to talk about a few things like if I’d be taking his name, if we want children.. but we don’t have a date yet.

:: She nodded. She couldn't say she'd do the same, she had the slow and steady relationship that went nowhere. She enjoyed the relationship with Jaxx and was following his lead. But the question her friend was asked, meant that they were ready for the leap, and if she was asked by Jaxx, she would be too anxious for the leap to spend too much time thinking about it. ::

Faranster: Like I said, if you need some help, I can help. On my planet, celebrations for weddings can last upwards of a week. Not that I think you guys could handle something that long.

:: Jalana laughed. She could not imagine to celebrate for days, though she was not so sure if Viktor really could not handle that. She had heard a few stories from him about the Irish, though she had not seen him do something like that before. So she couldn’t say, just one of the many things they would have years to learn about each other.::

Laxyn: I know I couldn’t and let’s hope that my groom does not intend to have a wedding celebration without his bride ::she grinned to her friend::

:: Sun had left out the fact that Antosian days were longer, so a week for an Antosian was closer to ten days for someone in Starfleet. The thought of either of them lasting that long, celebrating, was humorous. She imagined dark circles under both the bride and groom's eyes from exhaustion. ::

Faranster: Doubt he would do that, it's much more fun when both the bride and groom are there. :: She smiled back. :: But, just let me know if you want my help.

Laxyn: You’ll be the first to hear about any possible party plans. We’ll take all the help we can get.

Faranster: Good.

:: Jalana put the now empty plate on her table, and placed her hands on the edge of the furniture she sat on. Her green eyes were on her friend as she smiled widely. ::

Laxyn: So about your brother… before we got distracted about important business ::she smirked:: you told me that he’s visiting. For how long will he stay?

:: Sun noticed the conversation had gotten back around to her brother, he was probably going to be a topic of a lot of conversation, as she had been when she first came aboard. But, the fact that he kept his hair much shorter, might make the color not as out in front of people's faces as her hair was. ::

Faranster: Probably a few days, he tends to do things his own way, and pulled a few favors I am sure to be able to get this little vacation.

Laxyn: I hope that he’ll enjoy his time here. A starship isn’t the best vacation spot. Though it could be worse… he could be on Izar. ::she grinned wickedly at her friend.::

:: She giggled, their shore leave on Izar was a mess, but at the same time it was wonderful. It was just the few hours she was worried about her friends, and Andy getting shot, that she didn't like. But, if she could go back to the lake with him, she'd go through all the terrorists in the world to make it happen. ::

Faranster: Izar wasn't THAT bad... I think he might have enjoyed the action. :: She paused. :: You have any siblings?

Laxyn: ::nodding:: Yeah, one brother. He’s 9 years younger than me and on his way to become a great architect.

Faranster: When was the last time you saw him?

:: Sun was close with both her brothers, but she hadn't seen either of them in person since she started the academy, frequently calling them. She was curious if it was normal in other species to be close with their siblings too. ::

Laxyn: I saw him last in person before I left for the Academy. Last we spoke was maybe two years ago. He had just started in an architect office that belonged to some big company.

:: She smiled and was rather proud of her little brother. He had been able to follow his dreams without any interferences. That she had been the center of the diplomatic eye of her dad, maybe had made it easier for him to not be pestered by it. ::

Faranster: That seems like a long time. Why has it been so long?

Laxyn: He still lives with our parents. It is…::she tried to find the right word but then settled for:: tense. My father is diplomat and all my life I was prepared to follow him, until I revealed that I want to become a doctor. You can imagine my father was not happy. Since then whenever he is around when I call he closes down the connection. I just have to be lucky enough to call at a time when he’s gone one day.

Faranster: :: She frowned. :: That would keep them out of the loop on what is going on with you. You going to tell them about your engagement?

Laxyn: Absolutely. There would be a lot to tell them. They don’t even know I graduated. ::shrugging slightly:: One day we’ll get there. But enough about me and my dark family mood. How do you feel in your new position?

:: She let out a small laugh, it seemed easy for the CMO to turn her attention back to Sun. As she did have a lot going on now, and this was the first time they really sat down and talked about it. ::

Faranster: It's weird. It's much different than medical, curing the sick, healing the wounded... But now as First Officer, I am trying to find my bearings...

Laxyn: :: leaning slightly forward:: What is the difficulty for you with it?

Faranster: Well, there was a direct purpose in medical, I knew what I was doing, and where I was going...

:: She paused and tried to search for the words to explain how she felt now. It wasn't that she was unhappy, but she felt all over the place. During their last mission, she felt mostly useless, the Captain was there, so he seemed to have point on everything, and she wasn't really supposed to be doing medical work. ::

Faranster: But, now I feel like I am searching for a way to be useful.

:: Jalana thought about that. The chance in departments seemed to be easier, from what she had seen, when one had a clear line of duty, a task something to hold on to. Being the First Officer was much broader and less specific. She could imagine that it wouldn’t be a painless transition. She nodded slightly::

Laxyn: I can see that. I am very sure that you’ll find your own way as XO. Give it some time.

Faranster: It might take some time for me to get used to the position. And, it's not horrible, I just need to figure out where I fit now, that's all. I am sure once I know, I'll once again feel useful.

Laxyn: ::grinning:: No doubt.

:: She smiled at her friend. It made her feel better to get the thoughts off her chest, and she didn't want to tell Jaxx about it, he might think she was having doubts about accepting the position. It was just a lot of change, in such a short period of time, and she was still fairly new to StarFleet in the first place, having only served for under a year. ::

Faranster: If I am feeling too lost, I hope you don't mind if I come consult on some cases. It should help ease my mind.

Laxyn: I don’t mind at all. You are always welcome here and apart from that.. as First Officer you are Andrus’ right hand… as Second Officer I might be your’s. ::She smiled at her friend.::

Faranster: I’m sure you have something to do with Lanius at some point, I don’t want to hold you up, it was great getting a moment to talk, with how busy we both are and no longer working in the same department.

:: Sun was happy she made her way down to sickbay to spend some time with Jalana. Her former boss has been her friend since she first stepped onto the Apollo, so that made her the longest known friend she had on the ship. With the mission in the gate, she got to tend to her friend when she was sick, which allowed her to use her medical skills once again. ::

:: Jalana pushed herself off the edge of the desk and gave her a nod. She did not often have the chance to have a nice girl talk or talk outside the job in general. While she was aboard for quite a while already, she could count the friends she had made on less than one hand. She was glad to call Sun her friend and was looking forward to her visits.::

Laxyn: And you have your brother and Andrus to entertain ::She smirked, before her face took a serious expression for a moment.:: Sun, I… ::She tried to find the right words but it sounded all cheesy, so she just came out with it.:: I wanted to thank you for what you did on Eridea. Without you being there… I really don’t want to know what would have happened.

Faranster: Getting you up and about was my first priority, Jalana. I’ve never been in charge of a whole ward of injured patients, while I was trained, it was kind of frightening. I am glad I was able to help.

:: Sun wasn’t normally afraid, except in incidents where she was left helpless, and watching her friend become unconscious was scary for her. Especially without knowing when the antidote was being brought back, or being able to be made. Once she got the antidote, she wanted to make sure Jalana had it as quickly as possible. It was possible her motives were entirely selfish, not wanting to deal with the crisis by herself, but she was glad her friend was brought back quickly. ::

:: Jalana stepped forward and hugged her for a moment, as Sun stood up. She could not say how thankful she was but hoped that the Antosian knew. If she would have been alone with the mayor that poison would have surprised her. But with the fuzzy mind and some teamwork they had managed to find a solution. Although Jal was sure that Sun would have figured it out alone as well. ::

Laxyn: Thank you. ::She whispered into the woman’s hair and then stood back again.:: We shouldn’t let our men wait.::

:: Sun stood, and made her way for the door. Now, her closest friend knew the secret she had been keeping since Izar, and it wasn’t going to be a secret anymore. ::
