Backstory/Timeline

Qartok, son of Toghran, grew up in the capital city of the Klingon home world. After his father passed away when he was 2, his mother changed her career from the KDF science division to naturopathy so that she could take care of the rambunctious individual as a single mother. She found that placing him in laddered Mok'bara matches helped burn off the energy and build his social skills.

While he was on a field trip at the age of 14, there was a hostage situation. Starfleet Security stepped in to de-escalate the situation, apprehending the individual with no loss of life. This prompted Qartok to take a deeper look at Federation and Starfleet ideology, he found that while it was soft in some areas, there was more honour in preserving life than his perspective of the KDF which instigated battles unnecessarily. While this initially created some tension with his mother upon his acceptance to Starfleet Academy, she decided that she'd rather have her son in her life than create a rift.

Qartok's journey through his four years at Starfleet Academy was rocky to start. He struggled with Academy classes for the first several months until he befriended another more studious Klingon within his year, Takvog son of Kraghtor, that tutored him to ensure he didn't drop out and pass with satisfactory marks.
