In 2361 the government of Miri IV decieded to open up the planet to colonization. They contacted the Federation and informed them of this new policy. They even went so far as to actively advertise and promote their world as a possible location for development. Since then they have managed to encourage and recuite enough new colonists that they were able to double the population of their world.

In most cases this has resulted in small independant colonies of settlers from various Federation worlds.

In 2376 the government of Miri IV applied for membership within the Federation. In response the Federation agreed to send in a small team of observers. Their job was to evaluate and observe the conditions on the planet. It was to be a 10 year mission with the observers makeing recommendations and recording the progress of the integration of the new settlers with the original inhabitants.

In 2377 the Federation requested that Starfleet supply a few highly qualified individuals to investigate conditions on Miri IV. These operatives were to supplement the few being sent in by the Federation itself.

Most of these operatives arrived on Miri IV poseing as colonists. Three joined the official Federation observation team. Since then all but two of these operatives have suffered fatal accidents.

Jerry Nash

File: Miri - 2378-0035-OPE - Jerry Nash, male, Terran, age 28, Federation Operative, Atlanta, Georgia, USA, Earth. Nash was assigned to the official Federation observation team as a contact for those operatives going undercover. He died on 237802.08 approximately. Their is some concern regarding his death as he was missing for over 2 weeks before they found him. His body was discovered partially submerged in water along one of the large rivers known for it's swift and dangerous rapids. A damaged canoe was found down river. An examination of Nash revealed he had fresh water in his lungs and numerous bruises over most of his body. He also had a number of broken bones, a shattered jaw and almost all his teeth were missing. The bones in his left hand were shattered so badly that even if he had survived the accident he would never had use of that hand ever again. What makes this unusual is that Nash had no history of or record of haveing ever tried white water canoeing.

Abigail Tremain

File: Miri - 2378-0084-OPE - Abigail Tremain, female, Terran, age 27, Federation Operative, London, England, Earth. Abigail was assigned to the official Federation observation team as a contact for those operatives going undercover. She went missing 237803.27. No sign of her has ever been found.

Baro Horag

File: Miri - 2378-0154-OPE - Baro Horag, male, Bolian, age 34, Federation Operative, Koma, Bolarus IX. Horag went undercover within the Bolian settlement on Miri IV. He was found dead 237804.11 at approximately 1400 hours. Somehow he ended up shredded within a harvesting machine. He had been undercover as a engineer. No data has been found to explain how or why he ended up within the machine.

Pala Obera

File: Miri - 2380-0376-OPE - Pala Obera, male, Denobulan, age 31, Starfleet Operative, Sinthoria, Denobula. Lt. Obera is an intelligence officer who went undercover within the Denobulan settlement on Miri IV. He was found dead 238006.03 at approximately 0900 hours. He was undercover as a builder. While working on an aquaduc project he was crushed under an avalance of rocks.

Nega Watusi

File: Miri - 2381-0412-OPE - Nega Watusi, male, Terran, age 29, Starfleet Operative, Johanasburg, South Africa, Earth. Lt. Watusi is an intelligence officer who went undercover within the Terran settlement on Miri IV. He was found dead 238106.24 at approximately 1300 hours. He was undercover as a doctor. He was discovered dead at the base of a cliff. He was wearing climbing gear. Evidence shows the rope he was useing was frayed and had snapped uner his weight. What makes this unusual is that Watusi had no history of or record of haveing ever tried mountain climbing except as part of his cover identity.

Graham White

File: Miri - 2382-0537-OPE - Graham White, male, Terran, age 32, Starfleet Operative, Miami, Florida, USA, Earth. Lt. White is an intelligence officer who went undercover within the Terran settlement on Miri IV. He was found dead 238207.02 at approximately 1300 hours. He was undercover as a sanitation engineer. While working in the garbage processing plant he somehow fell into the shredder. He was so badly damaged that he could only be identified by DNA.

Pat'th Jagis

File: Miri - 2382-0592-OPE - Pat'th Jagis, male, Caitian, age 28, Federation Operative, Tabis, Cait. Jagis went undercover within the Caitian settlement on Miri IV. He was found dead 238207.30 at approximately 0100 hours. He was undercover as a teacher. He was discovered dead in his bed. No sign of trama or cause was found.

Diego San Valdiez

File: Miri - 2384-0592-OPE - Diego San Valdez, male, Terran, age 30, Federation Operative, Madrid, Spain, Earth. Valdez was assigned to the official Federation observation team as a contact for those operatives going undercover. He was found dead 238402.14 at approximately 0900 hours. He was killed accidently while spareing with a Calisto Bindar. Calisto is a native of Miri IV who was in training for the womens boxing championship competition. Due to her size, weight and excellent physical ability she usually only spars with men. Normally she spars with her brother but he was unavailable due to broken ribs. By accident she hit Valdez in the nose, driveing the bone up into his brain killing him instantly. She was held for questioning but over 30 people, both natives and Federation representatives were present and witnessed the event. She was released after and withdrew from the boxing championship.
