Crewman Third Class Alandra Deveraux previously worked as the only engineer on a pirate ship known as Morgan's Bounty. After growing increasingly dissatisfied with life as a pirate, she used a run in with Captain Mar as an opportunity to escape that life and seek asylum aboard the USS Ronin. In a twist of fortune, it turned out that her nephew, Martin Devereaux, was serving as a Tactical Officer in the very same ship. When the crew of the Ronin took an extended shoreleave on Earth, Alandra took the oportunity to enlist in Starfleet.
