Steamrunner-Wolverine Class

I'm wondering if we shouldn't call this a "Steamrunner-Wolverine Prototype"? It was upgraded from a regular Steamrunner class, and acted as the in-between before the USS Phoenix-C was built as the first of the S-W class. --Wolf /talk page 19:55, 20 September 2007 (CDT)

Probably. Don't suppose you have a registry, it seems to be missing off the nav. A motto too for that matter? - Lt.JG SalakTalk 04:27, 21 September 2007 (CDT)
I looked through a few sims for when the Tiger was first introduced and didn't find much. There is an e-mail from me to the crew about how we're going to do a poll to decide the motto, but I'm not sure we ever did. And if we did, the poll seems to be lost. You can take a snoop around for yourself, though. Tiger's first appearance was on October 5, 1999. --Wolf /talk page 20:17, 21 September 2007 (CDT)
Been skimming through, trying to read the OOC's carefully. Was the Phoenix-C a new build or a renaming of the Tiger as that's what it seems was being discussed at the time? - Lt.JG SalakTalk 06:49, 22 September 2007 (CDT)
Phoenix-C was built new, and the Tiger was kept as a refit on it's own. The Phoenix-C was the first of actual S-W class. --Wolf /talk page 11:48, 22 September 2007 (CDT)
Actually, you can look at the very first month or two of the Independence ygroups and the Constitution-B ygroups that carries some of the later USS Tiger personnel/posts. Some posts ended up being fw. into the ship ygroups from its predecessor (egroups, and prior, kismet)... too bad really. I was hoping to recover some of the '98-99 sb118 egroups for the Tiger. Cody, see above -- first reference of the Tiger was in a sim of mine in 99 ;) --Wolf /talk page 23:51, 22 September 2007 (CDT)

Wolf 359

Given that 39 of the 40 ships at Wolf 359 were destroyed, and that the surviving one is hinted to be the Endeavour by "Scorpion" (VOY), are we sure that the Steamrunner was there? - Lt Cmdr. Salak Talk 23:11, 28 September 2008 (EDT)

  • The phrasing doesn't necessarily imply that the Steamrunner survived - it could have proved itself before it was crippled or destroyed. My main beef with that same section is assertion that it "scraped up several important kills." There was one cube, no? What did it "kill," individual drones? On the whole, I think it needs to be reworked for clarity. Perhaps something more like: "At Wolf 359, the USS Steamrunner (which was still not fully built, and was operating at around 40% efficiency) was able to prove its effectiveness against the Borg Cube, causing major damage to the cube's power systems. While the Steamrunner was crippled/destroyed in that battle, the demonstration of its tenacity and potency resulted in the commissioning of three Steamrunner-type ships (the Tiger, the Horatio, and the Yamato), thus inaugurating the class." Yup, that kills reference bugged me too. Might be computer systems knocked out? - Lt Cmdr. Salak Talk 15:30, 29 September 2008 (EDT)
Return to "USS Tiger" page.
