I'm not really sure we need to have an article for this "sub-species", as I'm not sure if they are technically a distinct species, or just a different race. Just as there are Asians, Africans, Europeans, etc. They are all races of humans. I suppose the question is, would this species have it's own scientific name? I.e.- we are all homo sapiens, regardless of our race. So are the Aenar all the same "species"? --Wolf 12:50, 31 Jul 2005 (CDT)
The Aenar have physical differences... the clip in each antenae for example. The lack of pigment making thier skin far more pale is another.
It's possibly like comparing Homo Sapiens to Homo Neanderthalensis... both Human, but different sub-species with distinct differences.
Oh, and I was using the page template for the format. - Salak 13:38, 31 Jul 2005 (CDT)
Pigment doesn't make a new species. Think African vs. Caucasian. The "v" in each antanae is not enough to classify as a new species either, I don't think. That's just like different races have different eye shapes, or having an average different size. The only major differences are the blindness and telepathy. Still not entirely sure that makes them a difference species entirely, though.
Proper formatting I was referring to was making sure the names of the episodes are formatted properly, etc. --Wolf 19:47, 31 Jul 2005 (CDT)
Ah right...
Aenar may live on the moon of Andor but thier culture, etc... are very different. They are strongly telepathic, whilst the Andorians are not. That is another key difference which could seperate species. - Salak 04:57, 1 Aug 2005 (CDT)
You'll find the MA banner wasn't needed before that edit Piet... Just a link would have sufficed. I'd suggest a revert. - Jay 07:05, 20 Aug 2005 (CDT)
I would likely agree that the Aenar are not exactly a new species, at least not in the traditional sense - perhaps this information should be placed in the Andorian entry, along with the picture? It seems that would solve the problem. --LCMD Pietro Maximoff 13:55, 5 Jan 2006 (CST)
I'd suggest these guys are restricted in terms of the Index. As members of the Federation they should be available and would presumably be accepted into Starfleet, but I gather they are quite few in number & there are some strong roleplay restrictions (being blind and highly telepathic for starters) so maybe only make them available to experienced players? I'm glad you kept the Aenar as a seperate species. My character Sarik is a hybrid. I've been wanting to expand on a lot of things for their culture and such, it would be all non-cannon, but i was wondering if ther was a way to add it to the wiki? Perhaps in a seperate page with with a "non-cannon" link on the Aenar page. If not thats fine. Sarik Vaster 12:01, 10 May 2010 (CST)
