History

First contact between the Jivvrn and the Federation was to put it mildly disastrous. It was during the Dominion War and the USS Delhi was badly damaged and fleeing from a Breen cruiser and a Jem’hadar destroyer. The pursuit lasted over a period of 4 days and resulted in the USS Delhi losing their pursuers. Unfortunately they wandered into space claimed by the Jivvrn Coalition.

They were warned to leave but with their sensors damaged and the universal translator off line all they were able to determine was that the two approaching ships had targeted them and had powered up their weapons.

In the ensuing firefight the USS Delhi was destroyed with all hands. So was the Jem’hadar vessel that arrived and attacked as well. The USS Delhi was able to jettison its data core that was retrieved 3 years after the end of the war.

The USS Madrid was sent to make contact with this unknown species and determine if there were any survivors of the USS Delhi. They were met with hostility, suspicion and threats. 3 Jivvrn vessels encouraged them to leave or they would fire on them.

As a result the USS Madras retreated. Since then there has been limited contact and the majority of that has been hostile verging on confrontational.

Government

They have three levels of government. The top level is a hereditary council made up of a single member from each of the 27 noble families. Below this are the two councils. One has 70 members elected by the population to represent them and the other has 3 members selected from both or either the general population and their own individual followers.

Technically each noble family can conduct any kind of business even declaring war with anyone they wish without needing the support of any of the other families, however this would mean that it would only be their troops and ships involved in the conflict.

Description

Physiology

As with most intelligent humanoid species they have a very complex system with specialized organs, and unique hormones, chemicals and enzymes. They are typical humanoids with most of the physical, mental and biological medical problems that seem to plague most humanoids.

Psychology

Based on the limited data files available they have a basic understanding and a rudimentary treatment and care system for those members of their society who suffer from various different types of mental health issues. For the most part those with minor issues are eventually able to return to society but those with more complex issues, considered untreatable simply vanish, taken away usually to spend years or even all of their life within special care facilities. There are rumors that some noble families simply dispose of these individuals.

Religion

Each noble family has a deity that they observe and follow. These are a mix of male and female and have different aspects, abilities and personalities. In many ways each family seems to pattern themselves off of their patron deity and the identifying emblem for each family is the same one used for their deity.

The general population is free to follow any deity they wish but by doing so they are also considered to have picked a faction, supporting the noble family for whom that deity is a patron.

Mythology

They have a large and complex series of legends, myths and tales, many of them conflicting depending on which noble family or their patron deity is at the center of the story. In fact a large number of them are very similar, just altered to give credit or enforce the idea that this or that noble family or patron deity is the one who originally inspired the story.

Society

Their world is divided up into roughly 27 regions, each controlled and governed by one of the noble families. Conditions between regions can vary greatly and travel between these different regions is normally discouraged.

Identifying regions and the controlling noble family is fairly easy as each family uses a two color scheme depiction of their patron deity. This is worn by followers, employees, guards and present in all communities that they govern over.

Culture

Nobles

The noble families take great pride in their art collections, often using them to spite members of other families or as a means to indicate their superiority over other families. Also each and every single member of each noble family has a full life sized statue of them as well as a bust of only their head made when they reach the age of adulthood.

The bust goes in the house they live in while they are alive and is placed in a niche in a wall when they are dead. Behind this niche is where their body rests in the families Hall of the Dead.

The statues are stored until the individual they represent has died. At that time the family will select a location that was of important to either that individual or his accomplishments while alive.

Common People

The common people enjoy art but do not feel the need to own it or go out of their way to see it. Work, survival and providing a future to one’s family are all considered more important. As a result music is the only real common and frequent source of artistic expression for most of their population.

Customs

Each region seems to have developed a few customs of their own. Many of these are technically similar in some way to those in other regions but with certain minor differences.

Technology

All records seem to indicate that they are roughly equivalent to the Breen when it comes to their level of technology. However their does not seem to be any indication of any joint research being conducted by them and the Breen.

Economy

They seem to have a solid economy and trade numerous items with the Breen.

Military

They have a wide range of vessels from frigates to heavy cruisers with a number of specialized craft among the smaller classes. They also seem to have over a million ground troops scattered throughout their region of space.

Federation Intelligence Files

Starfleet and Federation Intelligence services have been able to retrieve the majority of the above data from Breen records and files. Evidently they have a number of long standing trade deals and are technically considered to be allies.

According to the Breen records the Jivvrn control a number of worlds, systems and facilities scattered over approximately 2 sectors of space.
