“It is in suffering that we are withdrawn from the bright superficial film of existence, from the sway of time and mere things, and find ourselves in the presence of profounder truth.”

Fr. Yves Conger

The USS Vera Cruz, NCC-1801, is an Enterprise class starship. She is one of the few Federation vessels to have remained in active service for over a century, having been commissioned in 2275. She has, obviously, undergone many and sometimes extensive refits, and her mission profile has shifted greatly over the years, but she remains a living testament to the foresight and ingenuity of the original Enterprise class design team.
