History

Having just ended a centuries-old war with the T'Lani, which included use of the Harvester biogenic weapon, the two sides in 2370 were so bent on peace at all costs that they eliminated all signs of the weapons, including the deaths of their own scientists. They also intended to kill the Federation help called in, Dr. Bashir and Chief O'Brien.

As per the agreement between the Kellerun and the T’Lani it was one of their assault teams that boarded the T'Lani munitions cruiser where Nydrom, Julian Bashir, Miles O'Brien and other scientists were working to dispose of the Harvester biogenic weapon. After fending off the attack, Bashir and O'Brien each took a rifle with them to the surface of T'Lani III where they hid out and waited for Starfleet to come looking for them.

In the mid-2370s, Kellerun traders were among the personnel held by Dominion forces at the mining facilities on planet Bleak Prime.

Government

The centuries long war had profound long term affects on the way their government ran and functioned. Terms in office became longer. While government positions use to be mostly for civilians that changed with more and more military officers being posted to important government positions.

Description

Physically similar to the T'Lani, the main visual difference between the races is the way in which they dress their hair; male and female Kellerun pull their jet black locks straight back, showing off their widows peak. The women's hair is pulled outward from the back of their skull, while the men's hair juts up far beyond the top of their heads.

Physiology

As with most intelligent humanoid species they have a number of unique characteristics that make their physical forms different for other species. However they have sufficient similarities that it is not to difficult for other species to provide medical aid to them if needed.

Psychology

They have a very strong sense of who they are as a people. Anything and everything is acceptable as an action if it is for the betterment of the majority. This may be the most significant change to them as a people as a result of the centuries long war.

Religion

They do not have any true form of religion. What they do have is a strong belief in their species and its culture. Traditions and family are vital to every citizen. This veneration of the family and those who went before could almost be considered a form of ancestor worship.

Mythology

Thousands of stories, most centered around one family or another. They are kind of like a written history of each families early ancestors.

Society

They have a very structured society where everyone knows their place and can by hard work improve not only his position but the importance of their family.

Culture

They do not sing. All their music is strictly instrumental, however they have a lot of variety with the classical tunes being the most popular with the majority of the population. Other than this, carved busts of famous people as well as statues and paintings of them can be found in almost every single home.

Customs

They enjoy large celebrations which last a few days during which there is much drinking, eating, dancing and music. These celebrations are for most major milestones in a persons life and are enjoyed not only by family but by friends as well.

Technology

They are well behind the average level of technology for most Federation member worlds. Since the end of the war they have been able to better develop their scientific and technology infrastructure and are now slowly making better progress than they have in a long time.

Economy

They have been able to re-establish numerous trade deals with many different species since the end of their centuries long war with the T’Lani. As a result they now have a thriving economy and are very competitive when negotiating new trade deals.

Military

Like the T’Lani they also used munitions style cruisers to transport and distribute biological weapons. The most dangerous of which was the Harvester virus. Since the end of the centuries long war between them they have also altered and changed their fleet. They scrapped about 25% of their ships as being too old or damaged to be worth upgrading and mothballed a third of the remaining fleet. The rest have been upgraded and improved.

The Kellerun assault rifle was a weapon employed by the Kellerun military. It fired rapid bursts of green plasma-like energy balls.
