Personal History
- 235207.28: Raj Blueheart was born in Malaysia, Earth, where his father was stationed while awaiting transfer to the company's new headquarters on Luna.
- 2352 - 2362: Raj becomes a voracious reader even from a very young age. He attended kindergarten in 2358, then primary school from 2359 to 2362 in Malaysia before relocating to Luna. His childhood, apart from reading and watching vintage Earth science fiction cartoons, was a dark and sad one. His father was physically abusive towards him, his younger sister and mother. Until today, Raj believes his father acted that way out of pressure at work, when the risk of 'forced early retirement'was high. What pained him the most was not the beatings or lashings or verbal abuse from his father, but rather the denial of his mother that it was wrong.
- 2362 - 2371: Late primary school to completion of secondary school on Luna were years filled with mixed emotions for young Raj. Never one to fancy sports, he was often bullied by the jocks, and teased by fellow classmates whenever he emerged top of his class in tests. While the teasing only provided him with an impetus to study harder and aim high, the bullying scarred him for life. It left him with a low self-esteem and an aversion to sports and games.
- 2372 - 2377: Medical school was a breeze for him, but only academically. Socially, he was an outcast, but not by choice. He was in the midst of discovering his sexuality and this proved to be a curse in a close-knit, conservative community in which he lived. It was also a troubling time when he was ostracized for championing equality for all. Needless to say, the small Earth community on Luna in those days was not yet prepared for egalitarianism. This further squashed Raj's self-esteem and psyche, making him reserved and aloof. On the other hand, he dug deeper into the solace his books and hobbies provided.
- 2377 - 2382: Dr Raj Blueheart, MD, works as a physician employed by the Earth government. During this time, he worked in various government-run hospitals on Earth as well as many volunteer stints in war-torn areas of the Sol system. It was during a volunteer mission to a refugee colony on Mars in 2382, that Raj meets Dr Dylan Matthews, whom he forges a personal relationship with. Unfortunately, there are misunderstandings on both sides. Misunderstandings that would eventually lead to a build-up of paranoia, jealousy and doubt. Ultimately, the relationship is severed, which leads Raj to almost end his life.
- 2382 - 2386: Escaping his painful past, Raj enlists in Starfleet, and after 4 years, graduates on 238601.31, as is assigned to the USS Discovery-B as Counselor.
- 2386: Addyson Martin, a ten-year-old comatose girl, is brought on board the Discovery-B. She is a victim of Morris virus infection which killed her parents - close friends of Raj. Raj is distraught with guilt for failing to diagnose the early phases of the insidious infection in her parents but manages to stave off the infection in young Addie. Unfortunately, though her body survives, her mind is rendered vegetative. Raj takes it upon himself to care for the orphaned girl on the Discovery. Miraculously, while on shore leave at Ba'ku, the restorative powers of the planet awaken Addie from her coma. The cheerful and bright young girl brings a burst of much needed sunshine in Raj's life.
- 2388: It was during his tenure on board the Discovery that Raj meets the then Dachlyd Chief Engineer, LtCmdr Rogg "Steve" d'Squamos, with whom he agrees to hatch three eggs with. Steve and Raj become co-parents to Essk, Vayu and Dryad.
- 2388: On a mission to the Reman homeworld, the crew is attacked by the Reman vampires. Addie is bitten and is transformed into the Undead. It was a life-changing event in Raj's life. Though cured of the infection that causes vampirism in its victims, Addie retains the collective memories of an entire Reman vampire race, forever changing her. She becomes a manipulative, dark, cunning, sharp and sexual being, trapped in a child's body. She is shunned by most of the crew as a freak, while she herself shuns Raj, her former guardian, whom she regards as weak, naive, emotional and innocent - traits that would only lead to his destruction.
- 2388: One of Raj's closest friends on the Discovery, LtCmdr Eric Lundrigan, leaves the ship abruptly and rather mysteriously. This not only has a profound affect on Raj but on LtCmdr John Valdivia as well, his other close buddy. It is a trying time for Raj as he loses one of his closest confidants on board.
- 2389: On one of many stops at DS285, his sister Sheila Blueheart Solis, introduces him to the station's resident xenolinguist, Emerson D'Arcy Ravenscroft. Following numerous spaced-out meetings and committed correspondence, the pair is ready to embark on a new relationship with each other.
- 2389: At a stop at DS285, Addie leaves the Discovery after Raj officially and emotionally releases her from his charge. It is a sad, sad day for Raj, although at the same time, a strangely liberating one.
- 2390: LtCmdr John Valdivia leaves the Discovery to pursue a career in Science. The departure of the last remaining close friend of Raj although saddens and devastates him, it also toughens his heart up by leaps and bounds.
