((USS Avandar, Captain's Ready Room))

:: Gently steaming mug in hand, Della sat at her desk looking over the latest reports on the Avandar's readiness and was pretty pleased with what she was seeing. Sure, they'd not exactly had any *physical* issues with anything, but it had still been a pretty tough run on their last outing...::

:: A slight smile appeared on her lips as the door, instead of chiming as the person on the other side no doubt expected it to, simply slid open to reveal the first of the arrivals for the meeting she'd called.::

Vetri: ::Not looking up.:: Grab a drink if you want one.

Any: ?

Vetri: A couple of things need seeing to, but the details... can wait until everyone's here, I think.

:: With that, she went back to her reading, filling in the time it took for everyone else to arrive.::

:: Once they were all present, she sat back in her seat and surveyed her assembled staff... A pretty decent selection of people, in her opinion, and that made some of what she had on the list to do in this meeting even nicer.::

Vetri: Okay folks, any last minute hassles to report?

Any: ?

vetri: Good. Okay, time for me to start doing my part, I guess.

:: Setting her mug aside after one more quick sip, she reached under the desk for the bag that rested by her foot and stood up, coming around the desk and heading for the nearest one of the others in the room.::

Vetri: It took a bit of convincing, but I managed it. As a result, here's a little something for you all as something of a memento of having avoided going totally nuts during our last mission.

:: As she was speaking, she made her way to everybody in the room, handing a small box from inside the bag to each of them - with a couple of exceptions.::

Vetri: Pointing out that with all the temporal shenanigans people seem to run into all over the place helped me make my case for this one, and the Extended Service ribbon has been officially added to your personnel records.

Any: ?

Vetri: You earned it, believe me. Robins, Valaine... Whilst your efforts when you joined us are definitely appreciated, I'm afraid I couldn't wrangle one of these for you guys. Sorry.

Robins/Valaine: ?

:: Moving back to her desk, Della sat the bag on it's surface, and there was the definite sound of something still inside it bumping against the hard material.::

Vetri: Jen, Eerie... I'm afraid I have some bad news for you.

:: Expression sober, she beckoned them to join her.::

Malcolm/Eerie: ?

:: Fishing into the bag, she pulled out another pair of boxes, which she studied for a long moment before turning her gaze back to the two officers she'd called up.::

Vetri: Your days as carefree junior officers are even further behind you.

:: Her expression dissolving into a smile, she held out one of the boxes to each of them.::

Vetri: Seems there's even more work ahead of the pair of you, Lieutenant Commanders Malcolm and Eerie. Congratulations to both of you.

Malcolm/Eerie: ?

Any: ?

Vetri: ::perching herself on the edge of her desk:: Okay, folks, back to business. Our orders have come through, and it seems Starfleet Command thinks we have some degree of experience with handling what they're sending us to do...

Any: ?

Vetri: Not even close... but a reasonable guess. No, we're headed back through the wormhole to get back on with the job we were so rudely interrupted during last time. Apparently the Romulan government - such as it is right now - are wanting something in return for not screaming about the Federation sending ships through, and our task is to gather information to share with them.

Any: ?

Vetri: For the moment... no, it's just us. There are plans to have another ship or two assigned to explore the area on the other side of the anomaly, but there's nothing in the area right now that can both do the job and be spared for it. But... ::flashing a grin:: ...that means we don't have to share the credit. All the brownie points we get for shining lights on the mysteries of the cosmos are all ours. We're scheduled to depart in seven hours, so... any questions?
