Hamada Kiyo is currently serving as a Linguistics Specialist aboard the [[USS Octavia E Butler]] after a very brief spell aboard the [[USS Oumuamua]]. She was previously a Senior Lecturer in Romulan Studies at the Starfleet Academy Campus aboard [[StarBase 118 Ops]]. She was sometimes spotted wearing a final year cadets pips and mingling amongst groups of students awaiting their last tests and examinations offering words of encouragement.

* '''Mannerisms''': Kiyo tends to shuffle her feet, or chew her bottom lip, the inside of her cheek or the side of a thumb when nervous. When standing, she tends to clasp her hands at the small of her back.

* '''Likes''': Punctuality (Kiyo herself is always early). Holodecks (Kiyo especially loves using holodecks to walk the Gotemba route to the top of Mount Fuji). Hand-phaser target shooting (Kiyo's unusual positioning of the holster at the small of her back doesn't prevent her from regularly outscoring her opponents).

* '''Dislikes''': Arrogance. Transporters. Despite being a decent pilot, Kiyo dislikes flying. Crowds make Kiyo nervous.

Despite her shy and studious nature, she was never on the receiving end of any bullying like some of the others, and this served to propel her further into her studies. Receiving excellent grades at school, she proceeded to almost literally breeze through her two years of college - even taking up an extra two-year course at the beginning of her second year and managing to complete it entirely in twelve months.

Having served aboard a handful of vessels as HCO, 2nd and 1st Officer, Kiyo gladly accepted a lecturers post back at the Academy. Returning to San Francisco Kiyo found herself in the third branch colour of her career, as she now worked for the Division of Arts & Sciences History Department.

It wasn't long however, before she was reassigned to the Academy campus aboard Starbase 118 where she split her work between teaching history and assisting HCO Cadets. She was placed back into a gold collar around this time, despite still officially working for the History Department.

With a new home to settle into and a massive station to fully explore, maybe it was time to finally put 'learn to make friends' on her to do list?
