Adara Bentley was born to Reyna Bentley and Vostro Djenn in 2367 at New Vegas, Luna. Her mother, Reyna Bentley is a medical doctor in the City of New Vegas and her Father is a Federation Ambassador on Starbase 118. Her parents were together for several years but were never married and are no longer together. In her early years, Adara displayed a natural interest in her environment and the world around her and often had trouble connecting with her fellow classmates. She maintained excellent grades throughout grade school but had trouble making and keeping friends. She claims that she was inspired by her father to join Starfleet, he once told her "Adara, you're very intelligent and terrible with people. You already meet half the pre-requisites to become a Starfleet Scientist." Taking her father's humorous advice, she entered Starfleet Academy where she managed to maintain her excellent study habits and, surrounded by like-minded individuals, develop a few meaningful friendships. In 238905 she graduated with a Science degree in Nanotechnology.

Adara's early years unfolded against the backdrop of the Dominion occupation of Betazed. However, her mother's decision to reside on Luna during this tumultuous period shielded her from the direct horrors of the invasion. It was her older brothers, Hanek and Talos, who experienced the emotional scars of Betazed's occupation more intensely.


Adara might be considered quirky, but it is entirely unintentional. On duty, she has a specific way of doing things that focuses on efficiency before diplomacy. This often causes others to view her as cold or disconnected. When off duty her somewhat limited social skills can sometimes lead to awkward situations, but she is generally likable enough. She enjoys the company of others but can be quite happy on her own, reading the latest scientific journals. Romantically, she has had a couple of relationships, only one that she would consider important, and a few flings. In her experience, intra-ship romances caused too many complications when they inevitably imploded. She now avoids them when possible.
Throughout her childhood, Adara exhibited an innate curiosity about the world around her. Despite struggling to connect with her peers, she excelled academically, setting herself apart from her brothers, for whom studying and book-learning did not come as easily.


She is very close with her family. Her two younger brothers, Aren (12) and Troyan (10) live with their respective parents and she often sends them subspace messages and souvenirs from the worlds she visits with Starfleet.
As Adara entered adolescence, her father, recognizing her potential, urged her to join Starfleet Academy. Taking his advice, Adara enrolled and discovered a transformative environment. Surrounded by like-minded individuals, she not only continued to excel academically but also forged meaningful friendships, breaking free from the isolation that had characterized her earlier years.
