 It took a couple years to design and build the team, hand selecting each member based upon their individual training and experience.  Eventually it came to fruition. That’s when the hard work started. Composed mostly of enlisted Marines and a couple of officers, The Team existed outside of the scrutiny of the usual chain of command. Most of his assignments were protection details and the like, often for an admiral or ambassador on some station somewhere. Usually the assignments were relatively benign, but on rare occasion the teams would be required to engage in a use of force against a hostile entity. Fortunately, those incidents didn’t happen very often, and even more rarely resulted in the loss of a life, wither friendly or foe.
-After several years with The Team, Isaac put in a request to transfer out, feeling he had done all he could with the team. Unceremoniously, the transfer was granted, and he received his orders for his new duty assignment. As expected, a non-disclosure agreement was issued regarding The Team and any of the operations they were involved with.
+Special Assignments always came with a certain amount of risk, whether to life and limb or to reputation. That was the call to duty, and sometimes things happen that either can not be controlled, or a decision that is made results in a negative outcome. That happed to Isaac late in 2399, and the result was devastating to his career. During his last mission on SA, he was assigned to protect a Federation ambassador and his family during their travels. He had been with the dignitary for almost a year and had become very close to them. One afternoon, he and the ambassador had been on a fishing trip to a lake near a cabin where the family was staying. As usual, Isaac was protecting the family but was also enjoying his time with them. The young son of the ambassador wandered off and fell into the lake without anyone knowing. The young man drowned and was unable to be revived. The family was devastated by the death of their child and a board of inquiry was convened regarding Isaac's failure to protect the youth. The ambassador and his family did not personally blame Isaac for their son's death, but it was ultimately Isaac's duty to protect the child. A long and arduous inquiry into the event, as well as a hearing before the board, resulted in Isaac being found responsible and disciplinary action was issued. Isaac was reduced in rank and grade, from Major to 1st. Lieutenant. This also meant the end of Isaac's career with Special Assignments. Unceremoniously, a transfer was issued, and he received his orders for his new duty assignment. As expected, a non-disclosure agreement was issued regarding The Team and any of the operations they were involved with.
