On Stardate 239811, the Arrow was assigned to a routine survey mission of the Chi Ceti system, when anomalous solar gases fry the Arrow's EPS grid, forcing a systems shutdown to prevent the Arrow from exploding. All hands are forced to evacuate. Ar'Gorvalei evacuated in a shuttlecraft, which crashed on the dark side of a Class M world with a long rotational period. Helping his injured crewmates to a nearby base camp, Ar'Gorvalei and First Officer Maz Rodan found their injuries to have been contaminated with a strange fungal infection, which was slowly spreading. An infiltration team led by Captain Shayne boarded the Sheliak vessel and introducing the neutralizing genetic material, but not before becoming infected with a "stealth virus" spawned by the metagenic virus's demise. Returning to the Arrow, Ar'Gorvalei worked to find a cure for the stealth virus, but not before succumbing to the illness.
