 [[Varaan/T'iana|T'iana]], the daughter of Starfleet officer [[Varaan]] and his wife [[T'lani]], has Mal'Aari Syndrome. She requires weekly treatments to forestall the degenerative neurological effects on the areas of her brain responsible for controlling her emotional response (similar to [[ma:Bendii Syndrome|Bendii Syndrome]] in the Vulcan elderly), and the areas responsible for some cognitive processing, specifically in regards to social interactions.
