USS Invicta: Difference between revisions

The '''USS ''Invicta''''', NCC-81407, is a state-of-the-art diplomatic courier vessel of the ''Cardiff'' class assigned to the [[Menthar Corridor]]. The ‘’Invicta’’ succeeds the {{USS|Garuda}} and the {{USS|Mercury}} as the primary vessel assigned to the region, but unlike either of its predecessors, it is not an isolated explorer but is supported by the experimental diplomatic installation [[Astrofori One]] and the starships of [[Peaceforce Five]]. The ‘’Invicta’’ is commanded by {{n|Aron|Kells}} but under the direct jurisdiction of Region Commander {{n|Cassandra|Egan Manno}}.

Circumstances in the Menthar Corridor have changed a great deal since the {{USS|Mercury}} was assigned five years before the arrival of the ‘’Invicta’’. At that time, the ‘’Mercury’’ was allowed in the Corridor thanks to a special arrangement with the Cardassian Union’s ruling Detapa Council. Though the [[Breen|Breen Confederacy]] and [[Tholian|Tholian Assembly]] also bordered the Corridor, interactions with those powers was limited. Little to nothing was known about the history of the region and the major species and polities that existed to the galactic west of known space. In short, the time was ripe for exploration.

Five years later, the ‘'Invicta’’ still has a lot of work to do. The successful founding of [[Astrofori One]] means that the major powers of the Corridor, as well as those nearby, including the Federation, the [[Romulan]]s, the Breen, and the [[Kubarey]], are united in the pursuit of diplomatic understanding as never before. Gone are the days when Starfleet vessels could explore the Corridor independently: Thanks to the high profile of Astrofori One, the eyes of two quadrants are on the ‘’Invicta’’ and her crew as they explore farther, delve more deeply, and push the boundaries of knowledge, understanding, and diplomacy than ever before.
