'''Nys''': We do, don't we?
'''Nys''': We do, don't we?
===Lieutenant Rhys talking with Lieutenant (jg) Sam Perkins===
'''Perkins''': Oh don't worry you will not be rid of me. It was just a  crazy thought. Two very dear friends of mine were killed. In the  battle with the T'Lithians , Nash and Hender. Rhys you must of lost many friends on Bajor. During the occupation of the Cardies. How did  you carry on?
'''Rhys''': Carry on?  Ah.  ::He looked at the young Jaygee with more closely.  Courtesy demanded he pay full attention for discussions such as this one.::  We all had our ways.  I remember a raid on a forced labour camp at Andron-Kel. My resistance partner, Tara Nystral and two of our members were being executed.  We had to rescue them.  ::He gazed at the amber beer::  Nys was injured and I lost one of my closest friends on that raid.  Tara's brother, Lorschal.  We didn't even have bodies to bury.  I thought I'd never be truly happy again.
And yet, I have been.  I think that's the reason why I follow Bajoran traditions so strongly, Sam.  In times of death or crisis, you need some reason, some...frame of reference for your world.  The B'laya cell wasn't terribly religious, ::he laughed::  wasn't religious at all...but we did follow traditions in the face of an enemy who was determined to wipe them out.  Small acts of defiance, B'laya used to call them.
