:: After having their missions assigned by Whale, the two teams split up. ::
James: ::James quickly looked around him, it seemed to busy for anyone to take
notice of them but...:: Mr. DyAmone, I think it would be logical to find
somewhere where we can't be seen. I may be able to use my tricorder to find the
source of the energy signature.
DyAmone: [Tag] | |||
:: James and DyAmone made their way to the side of the room. It had little foot
traffic and seemed to be the most out of the way. As soon as they arrived, James
started to discreetly scan the area. ::
((OOC: If you want to backsim a conversation I'm happy to oblige, James is
capable of multitasking!))
James: Hmm, there may be too much interference. Either the device is nearly the
size of this room or it is using a tremendous amount of energy. Nonetheless, the
most logical place to start would be at the centre of the readings, which is
::gesturing:: that way.
DyAmone: [Tag] | |||

closer there will be less interference.</nowiki></pre>

WHALE: James, DyAmone, find out what you can about the device, assuming you can
get near it. Anything you can get us about how it might be connected to our time
travel. More importantly, how it might be used to send us home.
JAMES: Aye, Sir. | |||
DYAMONE: What device? ::Wanda was puzzled.::
WHALE: Weston, Valis, let's see if we can find out why this place is suddenly
buzzing. And cross our fingers it isn't what I'm assuming it is...
WESTON/VALIS: ? | |||
DYAMONE: What is it you're assuming, Colonel? ::Three of them left before she
got her response.:: | |||
James: Mr. DyAmone, I think it would be logical to find somewhere where we can't
be seen. I may be able to use my tricorder to find the source of the energy
signature. | |||
DYAMONE: I completely disagree with you, see I would always first suspect people
who are acting suspiciously and hide in shadows. We are properly masked and
should try and act as we belong here.
:: James paused a minute considering this information... ::
JAMES: I shall accede to your greater knowledge... How would you make yourself
look inauspiciousness?
DYAMONE: I don't know how to look unsuspicious, I'm a doctor not a spy. If you
want to get professional opinion on that go and grab Weston.
:: James paused for a second in thought. ::
DYAMONE: I'm a doctor not an engineer or science officer, don't ask me how to
find the device... what device are we talking about anyway?
JAMES: Hmm, there may be too much interference. Either the device is nearly the
size of this room or it is using a tremendous amount of energy. Nonetheless, the
most logical place to start would be at the centre of the readings, which is
::gesturing:: that way.
DYAMONE: I thought we're looking an information on the device planted on the
Drake...s by Professor Arnold. What device ARE we talking about? ::She knew that
they were working on the clock, but running like blind will not help them to
reduce time needed to do something, on the contrary. Whale should've been more
precise in giving orders.::
JAMES: I'm afraid I can't tell much more about it than that. Possibly, as we get
closer there will be less interference.
DYAMONE: Not being able to say much more than that is much more than I can say.
I must confess I'm completely lost.
JAMES: We are looking for the device inside this power station are we not?
DYAMONE: Wait, wait, wait, wait, wait?! ::She paused for just a moment to make
him stop talking.:: You are saying you actually heard what Ishkarians up there
were talking about? | |||
JAMES: Yes I overheard several veiled references, although the confirming factor
was the symbology of this floor. Lighting bolts, practically the universal
symbol for high-voltage electricity. This lead me to assume that there is some
kind of energy device on this floor, possibly energy generation based on the
shear size. | |||
DYAMONE: You should've mentioned "that" device to the rest of us before we
split, James. We humans don't hear so well as you Vulcans do. Whale didn't know
about the device you are talking about when sent us to check about "the device".
::She was watching him with expression between panic and surprise.::
JAMES: :: James shifted uncomfortably. :: Are you sure we are meant to
investigate that device?
DYAMONE: Yes, I'm almost sure we are sent to try and find out what we can about
Professor Arnold and the device he planted on Drake to get us here. What kind of
device are you talking about, what is it you heard, tell me everything.
JAMES: Well, its just that the device made by this "Professor Arnold" is likely
to have been constructed in our time... Anyway, I have overheard several
references to a "test in the power room". This combined with the numerous
symbols denoting, or at least I assume they denote, danger and electricity as
well as the label on the lift, leads me to believe that this is most likely the
power room in question. As for the test... I can only assume it involves very
high energys... at least 2x10^30 volts. :: Remembering his audiences professed
skills. :: The equivalent energy of over a hundred photon torpedoes, if it where
to be directed as a weapon. This could explain, at least in part, the disaster
that befell this planet.

DYAMONE: What, wait... slow down vulcan. My brain can't process so much so fast.
Let me repeat it.. slowly. With a hope I got it right, we have a one huge weapon
around here? | |||
JAMES: Possibly. It could potentially be some kind of particle collider, but if
that is the case I do not know what kind of particles they are trying to detect.
The highest energy particle recorded is only 3×10^20 eV. ::James noticed the
Doctors expression.:: Yes, it probably is a very large weapon.
DYAMONE: Why would they need a weapon of that power? I mean, the only enemy I
know of that have ships as powerful are Borg. Though wait, we're 2500 years in
the past. I'm sorry I'm not very good with history, what do you know of
Iconians? They were before this time, right? oO I sincerely hope they were. they
are big, strong, mean and we know so little about them, that I don't want to
meet even a one single person who met any of them. Oo
JAMES: :: James paused while he thought. :: I'm afraid that I am not
particularly knowledge of History past the 20th Century however I believe the
Iconians where a power 200,000 years ago. However it is possible that the Borg
are active during this period. We still know little of their history.
:: The good Doctor suddenly started to look quite fearful although she soon
recuperated with a kind of grim determination. ::
DYAMONE: We need a plan, any kind of plan, but let me recapitulate more of your
monologue. You heard a talk about the weapon and saw signs. What signs?
JAMES: Ah, that is a question I can easily answer. They are all around, the
nearest would be ::pointing to the nearest wall.:: here.
::Mr. Dyamone turned to look at the signs, smirking slightly. ::
DYAMONE: Oh, those signs... so when did you learn to read ancient Ishkarian?
:: James turned his head to the side slightly and raised his eyebrow. ::
JAMES: While I do speak multiple languages, none of them are ancient. I do not
know even modern Ishkarian... 0o Of course! 0o Ah, Mr. Dyamone, are your lenses
perhaps not functioning properly?
DYAMONE: What lenses? ::Wanda scanned him and shrugged.:: Nice, play fun with a
doctor, right? I didn't get the lenses, I arrived to the transporter room late
and nobody mentioned I may need one of those toys. ::She growled thinking of the
discussion Whale had with Vex and reed which made him forget that she may need a
gadget too. A discussion that will have part 2 once they get out of the
trouble... if they do.:: Nice. So how much time do we have?
0o Its hardly my fault I didn't know... I was to busy being terrified, still I
can't say that... I really need to fix my problem... Although that may require
un-learning statistics. 0o
JAMES: 27:19, provided my display is accurate.
DYAMONE: Din fula fan. ::James stared at the Doctor blankly, he wasn't entirely
familiar with the language she was using. :: I mean, we're in a hurry. Let's
move. | |||
JAMES: Yes, we should. Although it would be foolish to progress blindly. Where
should we head, Mr. Dyamone?
DYAMONE: I don't know where. can you log into any of those consoles around here.
::She pointed to the one well hidden in the corner of the room behind some
crates and under the stairs.:: That one, for example.
JAMES: I should be able to, although I cannot give an absolute affirmative until
I see it properly. If I can what would I be looking for?
DYAMONE: Look for the info on the enemies of the Ishkarian people and on the
Professor Arnold and on the weapon, no maybe better not attracting that type of
attention. | |||
JAMES: With care, I should be able to cover our tracks. Few computer systems are
entirely alien. Even Vulcan computer programmers developed microkernels. ::
James suppressed a smirk at that, while the joke had probably gone over the
Doctor's head, it still had to be said. :: So, why are we trying to find this
Professor? | |||
:: While Mr. Dyamone spoke James turned towards the terminal. Fairly standard, a
thin client of course to complicate his job. ::
DYAMONE: If we find Arnold, he may know something that will help us find out
what is it he or his... wait. You said that the thing that sent us to this time
is created in our time, if it's created in our time or even in the future, why
Arnold was mentioned to may be from this time?
JAMES: :: While poking about the system. :: I'm not entirely sure. I joined the
Drake after any events involving him... Perhaps he gave reference in a past
incident? Most of them are classified or at least hard to obtain, so I have not
been able to research the subject.
0o Ah, a prompt. Black on Green? Very 20th century... I approve. ::
DYAMONE: This is great, you know. You and I are sent to find out... something.
We were not around to ever hear anything about or from this Arnold, we never met
directly with any Ishkarian relevant for this mission of ours nor have any
background information on anything, so how are we to know WHAT is it we are
looking for? | |||
0o Ok, that looks familiar... If I try this... ::
JAMES: I'm not entirely certain. I have not revived any information on what we
are attempting to answer, so I cannot ascertain our purpose.
0o Ok, I think that should give me high-level access. Now to cover my tracks.
0o | |||
((OOC: I'm going to remove the line about us just reaching the console if that's
OK. I think getting into a terminal would be a little bit more involved and
would like to reflect that!))
DYAMONE: Exactly, if we don't know the question, how to seek the answer?!
::Watching James log into it, Wanda just slump on the floor exhausted with
worry.:: Just do something and I'll breathe deeply in attempt to relax and
gather some energy and will to continue!
JAMES: :: Prodding the screen to finally enter the system. :: Indeed I think
that you may need to.... Try concentrating on number patterns. It is often of
help to me. :: Quickly changing the subject. :: So, do we have any details on
this professor from this time. Arnold is not an Ishkarian name?
DYAMONE: [Tag] | |||
JAMES: :: Sighing slightly. :: No, I didn't think you would.... :: Looking
through the information. :: This is some kind of energy generation facility,
although there is no mention on what it powers, although I doubt it is for
civilian use. Maybe scientific research, but even that would barely use the
power this produces. | |||
DYAMONE: [Tag] | |||
JAMES: Yes, it does seem like a weapon... Ah! There is a person associated with
the project with a similar name, Arnoldaghast. Technophysicist, 3rd degree. He
loosely fits the description of Professor Arnold in what files I've managed to
acquire. :: James turned the display to Mr. Dyanone for her to read. ::
DYAMONE: [Tag] | |||
JAMES: I can agree with the logic of that. He should be in the generation room,
so we can satisfy an investigation of that device too.
((OOC: Will backsim)) | |||
:: Before the two left James pressed a few more buttons on the terminal and two
cards came out from a side slot. ::
JAMES: These should allow us access to any restricted areas, although for how
long I cannot tell. I would also not present them to any non-mechanical
scrutiny, I am not sure they would pass.</nowiki></pre>
