<nowiki>::</nowiki>With all the excitement - meeting Captain Nugra and conversing with <br />
crewmates only a short while ago, he had almost completely forgotten to <br />
report to the Chief Engineer. Frazzled, he entered a turbolift and ordered <br />
to be taken to Engineering. After moments of sliding throughout the ship, <br />
Adam looked out into the most high-tech and elaborate Engineering setup he <br />
had ever seen. If he had been a child, this would have been like a <br />
playground on Betazed, just waiting to be explored. Slowly stepping from <br />
the turbolift, Adam&#039;s mouth dropped. His eyes meandered the entire deck, in <br />
awe of its magnificence.::<br />
<br />
((USS Gorkon - Deck 15 - Main Main Engineering - Upper Level))<br />
<br />
HAASE: ::speaking to himself:: Well, Starfleet has outdone themselves this <br />
time.<br />
<br />
<nowiki>::</nowiki>Setting his pack next to a chair which he would claim his own, he <br />
wandered around the room. The sheer size of the room seemed to make Adam <br />
leap with joy. Adam had to hold himself back from making any irrational <br />
decisions - he wanted to get right in and begin experimenting. But before <br />
he did that, he thought he&#039;d better meet up with his Department Chief. Adam <br />
picked up a PADD, and searched through it for the name.::<br />
<br />
HAASE: Computer, locate Lieutenant...::looking to the PADD:: Stoyer, Chief <br />
Engineer.<br />
<br />
Computer: =/\= Lieutenant Stoyer is located on the Bridge. =/\=<br />
<br />
HAASE: Thanks.<br />
<br />
Computer: =/\= You are quite welcome, Lieutenant Haase. =/\=<br />
<br />
HAASE: Oh...::slightly amused::...they must have added some upgrades to the <br />
computer as well. I hope that doesn&#039;t effect computer efficiency.<br />
<br />
<nowiki>::</nowiki>Taking a step away from his chair, he glanced one time more around the <br />
room before again entering the turbolift. He was going to catch up with his <br />
chief if it killed him.::<br />
<br />
HAASE: Bridge.<br />
<br />
<nowiki>::</nowiki>Again, the turbolift whipped into gear, and trusted him through the <br />
unseen tubes of the ship. Within moments, he was walking out onto the <br />
bridge, into what seemed to be a large gathering. Adam could overhear some <br />
of the conversation, but attempted not to butt himself in.::<br />

CHEN: I&rsquo;ve never worked with a ship&rsquo;s writer before. What is it that you <br />
do? Are we talking reports for the Federation News Service?<br />

<nowiki>::</nowiki>Adam had never seen a ship&#039;s writer before. That was somewhat rare in <br />
Starfleet. Adam concluded that he would have to meet up with this person at <br />
a later date - odd jobs had always interested him.::<br />
<br />
BJARNADOTTIR: Response<br />
<br />
ROSEK: I&#039;m sorry if I&#039;m interrupting anything. ::to Reynolds:: I just <br />
wanted to formally report in for duty. Lieutenant JG Lael Rosek. I worked <br />
in Operations aboard the Victory.<br />

REYNOLDS: Welcome aboard, Lieutenant. ::A quick smile of greeting crossed <br />
her face.:: You&#039;ll be assuming the same post on the Gorkon.<br />
<br />
<nowiki>::</nowiki>Adam had wished that he knew the posts of every officer on this ship - <br />
but that just wasn&#039;t so. He was so new - and most of these officers were <br />
reporting from the Victory. Adam sighed with confusion and continued <br />
listening.::<br />

CHEN/STOYER/BJARNADOTTIR:<br />
<br />
REYNOLDS: You&#039;re trained as engineer as well, I understand? Perhaps you can <br />
join me when I annoy Lieutenant Stoyer by poking around in engineering <br />
later. I&#039;ve yet to have a proper look at our slipstream drive.<br />
<br />
ROSEK: ::grins:: Yes, ma&#039;am. I haven&#039;t had a chance to look at it in the <br />
flesh either. Never got time to check out the one they installed on the <br />
Victory. I&#039;ve been over the blueprints, of course, and seen the holophotos, <br />
but nothing can compare to the real thing.<br />
<br />
<nowiki>::</nowiki>Ah! Another Engineer. Adam&#039;s heart lifted from the murky swamp and <br />
breathed a sigh of hope. Adam always enjoyed discussing ideas with other <br />
officers - and this Lieutenant looked like a perfect candidate. Then he <br />
realized that he had met this person before. Yes, on the Starbase. It was <br />
the woman he had lunch with.::<br />

CHEN/STOYER/BJARNADOTTIR:<br />

<nowiki>::</nowiki>Adam turned around to find another officer entering the room, which was <br />
beginning to fill very quickly.::<br />

EERIE: response<br />
<br />
SIRIS: Major Siris reporting as ordered Ma&#039;am.<br />
<br />
REYNOLDS: I prefer sir. ::She gestured, open-handed, palm toward the floor. <br />
The amusement wasn&#039;t entirely absent from her face.:: And please, at ease. <br />
Before you rupture something.<br />

<nowiki>::</nowiki>Adam laughed inwardly. He had made the same mistake as well.::<br />

CHEN/EERIE/SIRIS/STOYER/BJARNADOTTIR:<br />
<br />
REYNOLDS: You and Commander Eerie will be interested with the Marine set-up <br />
here, Major. Rather than sequester the Marines in their own section of the <br />
ship, they&#039;re housed with and use the same facilities as the Starfleet <br />
personnel. HQ believes it will foster &quot;inter-service cooperation&quot;.<br />
<br />
<nowiki>::</nowiki>Adam had never worked with the Marines before. He admired them for their <br />
service, but far too often he was hearing stories about the mix-ups between <br />
them and Starfleet Officers. Adam guessed that he would just have to seem <br />
for himself how these things really turned out.::<br />
<br />
CHEN/EERIE/SIRIS/STOYER/BJARNADOTTIR:<br />
<br />
REYNOLDS: Honestly, I think there just wasn&#039;t the room for it. The Gorkon&#039;s <br />
a big ship, but once you&#039;ve doubled the number of science labs, added a <br />
quarter more VIP quarters, **and** squeezed in a slipstream drive, there&#039;s <br />
really not much spare space to be had.<br />

CHEN/EERIE/SIRIS/STOYERBJARNADOTTIR: <br />
<br />
REYNOLDS: Apropos of nothing -- It&#039;s good that you&#039;re all here. There&#039;s <br />
going to be an awards ceremony in the holodeck in the next couple of days. <br />
I believe Captain Nugra has some commendations he&#039;d like to award, and the <br />
whole of the Gorkon senior staff has been invited. I wanted to ask that you <br />
reach out and make our new transfers feel welcome.<br />

ROSEK: ::nods:: Yes, ma&#039;am.<br />

<nowiki>::</nowiki>Adam was excited for this ceremony. His ceremony had taken place about a <br />
month before - so he didn&#039;t expect anything from this crew - but it always <br />
excited him to watch other awarded their medals; their faces beaming with <br />
pride.::<br />

ROSEK: If I might ask, ma--sir, what&#039;s the dress code?<br />

people, he found the Chief Engineer and introduced himself.::<br />

HAASE: Afternoon, Lieutenant. My name is Lieutenant Haase, and I will be <br />
one of the senior engineers working in your department. It&#039;s a pleasure to <br />
finally meet you.<br />

STOYER: response?<br />
<br />
HAASE: Yes, sir. Just transferred in from the USS Atlantis. Served there <br />
for about seven months before being transferred here.<br />

STOYER: response?<br />
<br />
HAASE: Yes. I was down there a few minutes ago. Beautiful. I&#039;ve already <br />
picked out a console, as long as that&#039;s okay with you. ::Adam smiled::<br />
