Exception

Toni, I don't think that this is necessary. Just because no lomale was mentioned (as they are not part of the family unit; info to come later on the roles of lomales in Laudean society) doesn't necessarily mean that one wasn't present. By having procreation possible without a lomale makes them extraneous and unnecessary in society, and hence useless. Evolution would have gotten rid of them. They need to have a purpose in order to exist. Besides, modern Laudean society doesn't understand the importance of the lomale beyond procreation. Possibly the Coven might know, and is keeping it a secret, or maybe just the upper echelon of the Coven knows. -Varaan, 21 MAR 2006, 11:34 EST

Lomales

This is the as yet undiscovered history of the lomale gender. Thousands of years ago, even as far back as the ancient creation mythology, the lomale was the original gender, the original creation of the "gods" or whatever. Male and female evolved FROM the lomale, kind of as "sub"-genders. The lomales were revered, almost worshipped. They were pampered and treated with the utmost respect and dignity, for without them, there would be no Laudean race.

Then, some sort of epidemic hit, affecting only the lomales. Their numbers dropped dramatically. They became something of a comodity. Eventually, they became so sought after and important, that some were held in captivity (a very comfortable captivity, mind you) for their protection. Soon, wars were being fought over them. Their revered and honoured status was forgotton as they were soon no more than prisoners. Now, in modern times, their status has degenerated so far that they are bought and sold as slaves, and treated like cattle. No one remembers. Prof. Robertson is going to uncover the truth soon. And if the truth comes out, it will shake the very foundations of Laudean society. -Varaan, 21 MAR 2006, 11:42 EST

This Page

I'm not really sure I see the purpose behind this page. Even if the information on it were official, it would need to go in to the main page on Laudean biology as a small section, its not really an article in its own right.

If anything it does an raise interesting perspective in that although a Lomale is involved in procreation the couple still gets refered to as the parental unit.

Either way, in terms of subjects such as these (that potentially change the Laudean race or how we sim things on Duronis II) I'd appreciate it if you could run them by me ( r.drawoh@starbase118.net ) or discuss them in the embassy section of the forums {allowing me and others to reply} before creating a page on the wiki.

I'm very happy with the Lomale as an aspect of Laudean society and as described on the wiki in terms of biology. Lt.Jg Turner, if you have issues with what's there as "Laudean canon" can you please send me a direct ooc outlining which aspects you object to and why.
