Growing incredibly slow, the Sha-kro't is a tree whose genetic makeup has remained unchanged for millennia. As the planet evolved, becoming hotter with increased geothermic activity, rather than mutate as most other forms of flora did, the Sha-kro't merely slowed its growth-rate. Under present conditions on Vulcan, average growth is 2.7-3 millimeters per year.

In 2261 CE, it was declared forbidden to fell a Sha-kro't, in order to preserve the dwindling numbers of wild trees.

Blooming once every 90-100 years, and then only for a single day, those who have smelled a Sha-kro't blossom have reported to have experienced a rush of what they described "logical emotion." In one historical account from c.2110 CE, the observer was said to weep openly, without shame during or after for the display. Once dried, the Sha-kro't blossom produces an oil which has many fascinating properties, however, due to the rarity of these flowers, very little research has been conducted.
