Personal History

Ambassador Scott Walker served as the Romulan ambassador for 20 years. During that time, Romulan influences required him to shift his entire family to Romulus to “help foster better communication”. During this time, his son Benjamin was born. Benjamin was raised in the Romulan method, but kept from any permanent harm by his Federation ties.

After 10 years had passed, Kristina Carcosa, ambassador Walker’s wife, could no longer accept the pressures required of her on Romulus. After a difficult period, she divorced and returned to Earth. Benjamin was offered the opportunity to return to Earth, but turned it down.

At the age of 18 years, Benjamin requested, and was accepted, at Starfleet academy.

During one visit, Ambassador Walker helped his wife and daughter, along with the a Romulan scout ship and its crew, defect to the Federation.

******* While at Starfleet academy, a number of instructors commented on Ben Walker’s style and methods. While he excelled at finding innovative solutions to problems, he was extremely distrustful of any of his classmates. Further, where other cadets had no issues working with each other to solve a problem, several times Ben Walker was unable to find the solution alone. And was extremely upset when he was informed of such deficiencies.

During this time, Mr. Walker’s scores were not sufficient for him to graduate with his class. All of his instructor’s were quick to point out that he was competent to complete the tasks assigned, but his lack of interaction with others was a critical point that could not be ignored.

However, Mr. Walker was still scheduled for graduation in his class, with minor honors. Instructors discovered to their dismay and growing agitation that Mr. Walker’s record had been altered, removing the negative comments they had made.

Tracing back, it was determined that Mr. Walker had hacked the Academy computer, changed the records, and removed the traces of his actions. At the suggestion of Academy Counselor Basku, Mr. Walker was confronted on his actions. During this confrontation, he was told that although his actions were horrible he would be given the option to prove his skill by taking over control of a Galaxy class starship. He was transported into a holodeck already preprogrammed to ignore any of his commands, setup as the ship in question. During this test he was indeed able to override the normal command structure of the ship. On doing so, he was able to take control but not sensors. As part of this multi-day simulation, the ship was destroyed around him due to a standard meteor shower…that due to his efforts the crew was unable to avoid.

Due in no small part to his parent’s status and position, he was shifted back one year to a group of people who did not know his previous actions. While still hesitant to join in, he has made sufficient effort in this regard that all of his instructors felt he deserved to be allowed to graduate. ******* ------- This would be the full file on my character…below would be what I’m guessing would be a Counselor’s profile on me.

In general, Ben Walker is very reserved about any thoughts or feelings he has that are not related to his work. However, while working on a given task he attacks it with all of the repressed energy most put into interpersonal affairs. Slightly paranoid due to his Romulan upbringing, he nonetheless has an exceptional grasp of innovative uses for standard technologies.
