Vyrenna's parents were a Vulcan and a Romulan who supported the reunification movement at home on Vulcan. As such, she has always been political and chose not to let go of her emotions and focus upon her Vulcan heritage.

She achieved advanced degrees in psychology and xenobiology before she enrolled in Starfleet. She specializes now in examinations of the actions of high-ranking officers deployed aboard starships or stations, often when misconduct, fraud, or criminal activity is suspected.
