Vid-Lotilija was born on a small agricultural El-Aurian colony. She was a second generation colonists. Those who saw and knew of the Borg never spoke of them, her own grandparents experienced them, even so she never heard of the atrocities and fear.

Her knowledge of the vast universe gave her dreams of traveling. As many other children of the colony she didn’t understand the fear and reluctance from the elders about space travel. Even the ships still capable of extensive interstellar travel were these days only used for short trips, just to the nearby systems, for provisions they couldn’t create themselves.

When Vid-Lotilija was nearing the age to start education outside of her home a big change came to the colony. Romulans, in whose space the planet was located, decided they want to know more about these El-Aurians and built a base just outside the settlement. The change was mainly good, due to the supplies and equipment the colony received.

Even the growth of the colony with all the Romulans and all the other El-Aurians brought there from all around the Romulan Empire was good. Something that was not as good was that the colony had been isolated for hundreds of years and suddenly had many traders and shady creatures seeking a fast profit.

Among the arrivals was a Vulcan, X’arel, who arrived with his young wife and two little sons and became the first school teacher Vid-Lotilija had. He taught her about things she never encountered before. He taught her to love poetry to see poetry in science to see beauty in numbers and words and to play with either and both.

Love happened like a summer shower, fast and wild. When they realized what happened it was too late to repair it. Vid-Lotilija was pregnant and X’arel had to admit it to his family. X’arel’s wife left him and he followed her promising Vid-Lotilija to return to her before she gave birth. Although he didn’t return, and Vid-Lotilija was shattered. After giving birth to their son J’vok she left the colony with her parents. They left the Romulan Empire and searched for a new home in the United Federation of Planets, where nobody knew her history.

X’arel was tricked by his wife and the only reason he was late for childbirth was that he couldn’t find a transport to the colony in time. When he returned to there, Vid-Lotilija was already gone and for a long time he couldn’t find anyone to tell him where they had gone.

Ten years later when he had learned of them leaving for the Federation Vid-Lotilija received news of X’arel’s search for her and their son. As it often happens they again missed each other. Vid-Lotilija was traveling through the Romulan Empire as far as her provisions would take her. She took jobs here and there that she was qualified for, but for a long time she couldn’t find any work at all and ended up begging for food to support her young child.

Rendet Ter’th, a Romulan businessman noticed her and gave her shelter and a job. She started at the bottom and worked her way up. From servant to his assistant in the pharmaceutical company he owned. All those years she was his concubine. Her heart always belonged to X’arel and she never once thought of becoming Rendet Ter’th’s wife. But after almost 20 years together she gave him a son, Tapaul and she became his wife.

X’arel finally found her years later and even though his heart was still aching for her, he never revealed to her his presence in respect of her marriage, but he still decided to live close by.

In next 20 years Vid-Lotilija and Ter’th lived a happy family life in which Vid-Lotilija gave birth to one more male child, Takkath. They ran company together successfully all those years. Having good relationships with the Gorn, the Federation and the Klingons.

One day Ter’th got sick from a sample acquired from a business deal with a Gorn Science Facility. Soon it became obvious the samples were not meant for them, but instead to be spread as a planted contaminant by the Federation. However it proved much less dangerous to the Gorn. It was almost impossible to get anyone from the Federation to admit to this. After a horrible eight months of research a Federation research facility presented a cure. It was classified top secret and they couldn’t just plain give it to Vid-Lotilija and her family. Instead she had to bring her husband to them.

Ter’th died on the way there and Vid-Lotilija returned to her home and to her children with the dead body of their father. In anger both her sons decided to join the Romulan Military Forces.

Several weeks after Ter’th’s funeral X’arel came to visit Vid-Lotilija for the first time after they separated on the colony almost 50 years ago. She almost didn’t recognize her love, eyes didn’t know the Vulcan, but heart did. Their happiness didn’t last long and barely 5 months after they reunited X’arel died on her hands.

Something broke in Vid-Lotilija and she acquired small but fast ship with modern cloaking device and hired heavily trained and heartless gang. For next 2 years she was huge trouble for every pharmaceutical research facility in Federation Space. She had huge net of informers and always knew when certain facility reached some breakthrough and was always there to steal it and destroy the research to make sure it can’t be recreated fast.

It had to be stopped and as it always is with big organization, always somewhere may and did happen a leak and her team was caught red handed. They were questioned extensively but nobody revealed her connection. Team was trialed and fined for 120 years each. For most of them it’s their whole lifetime or longer, none of them would ever again see their families. To save them she made a deal and they were all let go, but had to stay out of Federation Space forever.

Vid-Lotilija was on the other hand given a choice, to either spend 120 years in high security prison or to join Starfleet and use her knowledge to pay for her crimes. Since it was much better choice than prison she agrees to join. After she graduated Academy, Vid-Lotilija was kept as assistant for 5 more years and now 10 years after entering it she was given a right to do the final exam and join a ship and to serve in Starfleet for at least 50 years, before she will have a right to seek discharge.

Hardest part for Vid-Lotilija is a separation with her Family, while J’vok can visit her, though living in Romulan Empire her younger sons can’t enter Federation space and she can’t leave it. Worst were months after destruction of Romulus when she didn’t know did they make it and could they save the research from their laboratory. Whole project with a factory was moved to Crispinus, together with graves of her husbands.

Most of her personal history till joining Starfleet Academy is CLASSIFIED and known only to her Commanding Officer.
