Shuttlebays and Auxiliary Craft Complement

Veritas is equipped with two shuttlebays on either side of the ventral saucer section (main level on Deck 9, upper level on Deck 8). The ship carries a complement of 2 type-18 shuttlepods, 4 type-10 shuttlecraft (named Miranda, Prospero, Ariel, and Shadow), 1 type-11 shuttlecraft (named Ferdinand) and 4 work bees.

Type 10 Shuttlecraft

Due to their armored hulls, combat effectiveness including signal intelligence jamming devices, and a primary power grid powered by the impulse engines that made no use of antimatter (and thus allows the shuttles to enter areas that would normally collapse the dilithium matrix of a warp core), the type-10 shuttles are particularly well-suited for use in the Shoals. In 2394, a shuttle refit program was done to upgrade Veritas' type 10 shuttles to employ an interchangeable equipment module system along with many of the shuttles' systems to operate more effectively for the needs of Starfleet Search and Rescue operations.

Type 11 Shuttlecraft

In addition to the Veritas' normal complement of type-10 shuttles, a larger type-11 shuttle, named Ferdinand, was procured on Antor II in 2394. It offers a larger passenger and cargo capacity but is less maneuverable than the smaller type-10.
