Jaco was raised in a family who cared for him immensely but weren't overly nurturing to his studies. From an early age Jacob was thoroughly interested in the sciences and computers. His parents saw no time in such a specific career and tried to discourage him from starfleet. Despire their discouragement they have been supportive of his choices.
Jacob had very little trouble with the theory element of the academy. Excelling in operations and engineering systems he had a foot in the door but he had a server lack of confidence in the real scenarios. He Graduated towards the top of his class a result that Jacob was more than happy with. Jacob has every intention of doing his best in his last practical and hopes to get assigned to an excellent starship.
