Backstory/Timeline

It's hard not to see Starfleet almost daily on the Federation News Service. Federation territory covers a large portion of the Alpha Quadrant, has spilled over into the Beta Quadrant, and is expanding all the time. From a civilian perspective, Starfleet's air time is mostly taken up by scientific discovery, acts of heroism and everything that is necessary to capture the imagination of a youthful mind. Enter Jordi Mederos.

With neither parent in Starfleet, Jordi had no reason to don the uniform to preserve family tradition, or to live up to the expectations of his family. Instead, his motivation grew from curiosity and inspiration. With part of each day spent with his parents keeping up with current affairs, he developed a particular affinity for the reports on Starfleet, able to recite their most recently publicised missions throughout junior school and writing reports and even creative stories about them in high school. He pushed himself as hard as he could to get the grades he needed for the academy, returning home feeling like a conquering hero when he was accepted. Now, after four years of study, he stands ready to tackle the final barrier, behind which lies his life's ambition: to serve as a Starfleet officer.

As a result of his upbringing and his work to achieve entry into Starfleet, Jordi is disciplined, focused and pragmatic. He is goal-oriented and ambitious, which can sometimes lead him to being a little single-minded. As an only child, he sometimes has a tendency to forget to be considerate of others around him, although he is generally a good-natured individual and will remember eventually, even without being reminded. There is nothing more satisfying to him than completing a mission and seeing himself and those working with him achieve success, and he's prepared to put in the work to make sure that happens.
