They're heat patterns of their bodies indicate their rank of authority. Purple fire crystals are able to withstand the heat of their environment, but also are used to decorate their exo-suits while aboard another species' vessel or planet so they are able to be recognized.

  • Major, a senior officer, and equivilant to a Commander.
  • Commander, a mid-level officer, and equivilant to a Lt. Commander.
