Against this backdrop was a time of incredible exploration. The Organians imposed a peace treaty between the Federation and the Klingon Empire, ceasing outright hostilities in 2267, although the cold war would continue through the end of the century. The Organian Peace Treaty of 2267 laid the groundwork for the Khitomer Accords of 2293, ushering in a new era of cooperation between the Federation and the Klingons. New races, most notably the Betazoids in 2294 and the Bolians in 2320, joined the Federation.
