Udro Nepra grew up with one goal in mind, becoming a Vedek or in her more wilder flights of aspiration, Kai. She entered into a progressive order upon her fifteenth birthday and after years of study she was well on her way to becoming a Prylar when everything changed. She had an orb experience and saw images of space, of being a small girl and looking up to her uncle in milita. Most of the vision took place the time she had been to see him on his starship not too long after the occupation ended. It was one of her first happy memories, and she remembered the wonder she felt as she looked down on her homeworld from space. The images took her some time to figure out but she became sure the prophets were telling her that her path would lead her to the stars. The Vedek of her order talked with her at length and encouraged her to apply to Starfleet Academy.

Leaving behind the life of reflection and religious study for another kind of study she threw herself into Academy life. Choosing science as her specialization came as no surprise to those who knew her. Her order had been one that held the belief that the prophets once been as they were and only upon understanding the universe did they become beyond linear time. She had been an active member of orders observatory and excelled in stellar sciences at the academy.

Her first posting on the USS Quazar a nova class science vessel took her on a exploration mission of a stellar nursery. There she saw again the same phenomenon dazzling in space as it had been in her orb experience. She knew then she had made the right choice in joining starfleet and enjoyed the four year mission of exploration. Having had earned a promotion to lieutenant during the voyage and the eye of the Quazar's xo Commander Imamu when the human was offered his own command he took Udro along as his Chief science officer.

The next few years as a member of Imanu's senior staff aboard the nebula class USS Hercinia were some of the most rewarding in her life. She found a real knack for organizing personnel according to talents in her department. She began running a Religious study group for the Bajorans (along with nonBajorans wishing to learn) aboard. They would meet and speak about the prophets, the prophecies and texts as well as how they could walk with the prophets in their modern lives. The influence of her order in the discussions was clear and she had a falling out with a Ensign who had more reserved beliefs.

One seemingly normal day while she was sharing breakfast with Captain Imanu asked her how she would feel about being a first officer. Surprised she told him she would be honored. Apparently he had already put her in for an open position. A short time later her transfer came in and she departed the Hercinia and donned her new red uniform ready to see what the Expanse and the USS Atlantis had in store for her.
