Personal History

As Cole's parents were a Federation ambassador and the daughter of a Betazoid politician, it was often thought, even expected that he would grow up to pursue a career in diplomacy or politics as his older sister had done. Throughout his childhood he saw little of his father who was always away on assignment, instead being raised on Betazed by his mother and her family. Being brought up around other children who were full Betazoids Cole always felt as though he had to try harder to prove that he was as good as, if not better than the other children of his age. Eventually he qualified with honours from college and put in an application to join Starfleet, surprising a few when he applied for courses in advanced tactical analysis, space combat and advanced sensor operations and tracking. Over the next 4 years Cole also branched out to include some security fields such as security systems operations, data analysis and hacking and small unit tactics but for the most part concentrated on tactical for which he showed a talent.
