Chronological History

TraestRuyt th'Tane (Traest to his friends) was born to TirielAethyn ch'Tane and Uiteletiie zh'Tane in 2359. His father, Aethyn ch'Tane was a minor member of the Federation beaurocracy, while his mother, Aethyn zh'Tane was a teacher. Traest spent many a happy year on Andoria, and generally passed through the education system, never particularly excelling. This was despite an above-average intellect.

All this suddenly changed in 2375 when Traest's father became ill with an incurable disease. As he watched his father waste away upon the bio-bed with him unable to help. After his father's death in the winter of that year, Traest threw himself into his studies, determining to excel so he could be accepted to the prestigious Imperial Medical School on Andoria. His mother and siblings looked on, a little worried, as Traest developed a minor messiah complex, determined that he would be able to save all around him.

When he was 18, he achieved his goal, and was accepted into the Imperial Medical School. An easy-going student, he was mostly well-liked and he mostly got on with those around him, though they noticed he had a tendency to detach himself from people occaisionally. Achieving high grades (though by no means near the top of his class) Traest was a success.

In his final year of Medical school, his tutor advised him to pursue a carreer in Starfleet, as he noticed a wanderlust in his young charge's eye. To Traest, it seemed a logical extension of his now-growing messiah complex. Instead of simply saving those arouind him, he could use Starfleet to further his own agenda, so to speak.

With a diploma under his belt, Traest passed the Academy entrance exam at Starbase 118 with acceptable grades. At 22 he was slightly older than his fellow cadets, but that was hardly an obstacle. The pattern that had become aparrent at the IMS manifested itself again. He spent a quiet few years attending the Academy campus, and achived acceptable grades. He graduated in 2386.
