Backstory
Tara Mirza arrived at the captain’s chair through the science track. A couple of years younger than her first officer aboard the Mercury Gabriel Evanston, her command style is based more on the adage of, "Speak softly and carry a big stick." The Mercury is her second command, her first having been the Nova class Tycho Brahe.
She was assigned as the Mercury's commanding officer in 2391 following the ship's recovery and subsequent relaunch after having been lost earlier in the year in an ion storm while under warp tow for extensive repairs. One of her former commanding officers gave her a two sentence recommendation for the assignment to the Menthar Corridor: "She’s got guts. That's all we need."
Personal Life
She is married. Her husband is a civilian and is raising their son.
