This would be interesting to see... how will it work though?

"Fleet Captain Rocar Drawoh | Talk"

Other methods...

Might be better to use a list, or perhaps use a Geneology software, like Geni :) --Wolf /talk page 19:50, 8 July 2008 (EDT)

Possible tree...

Here's one using the list format. It's a little more complete, but there's tons of history in the Reports that you could uncover and make a more complete picture. --Wolf /talk page 20:00, 8 July 2008 (EDT)

On top of the inverted version of Rocar's, I've just been looking at a column version showing when each ship's been about... 118Wiki:Sand Box#Year chart. That puts it in date perspective, and if things don't get too complicated, it could be done in such a way to show where ships predominantely split from or merged to (see Triumhpant and Indy for a merge). Given a CO tends to command a ship that splits from the ship of the CO that taught them... (though I've put Tiger as suceeding Ursa, that could be worked to show a merge, albeit a tad clumsily as crew transferring to Tiger from Ursa never joined Indy) - Lt. SalakUSS TigerTalk 20:08, 8 July 2008 (EDT)

That looks great Salak.

I think this page could do with a little preambule. Then the table I've started followed by your table... both lots of info/ ways of presenting it would be good together.

Cheers for the extra info Admiral.. I was kinda going from memory (hence why its a bit one sided towards the Hollis Branch of the family tree right now). Will work it in.

In the long run years for these captains would be handy if anyone can be bothered finding them out! ..I'm putting question marks where im not sure for now.

"Fleet Captain Rocar Drawoh | Talk"

I added a couple for McGregor... She commanded Wallace roughly June -> Sept 2000, with Jay Ross (her previous XO) taking over from her until decommissioning... which I'd thought was about Nov 2001 but now seems to be sometime in 2002; sims are on the Victory mailing list. - Lt. SalakUSS TigerTalk 21:23, 8 July 2008 (EDT)
Oh, and my years table quite obviously focuses on the Indy line, mainly cos that's the section I've always simmed in so know best. My knowledge of the Victory seems a bit patchy though. - Lt. SalakUSS TigerTalk 21:24, 8 July 2008 (EDT)

Alder == Adler; you probably shouldn't have her in there twice. Tekra 18:21, 13 July 2008 (EDT)

Certain that they're one and the same person? - Lt. SalakUSS TigerTalk 08:49, 14 July 2008 (EDT)
Yes. Captain Adler Wong-Aquiss's mirror universe persona was Captain Alder. --Wolf /talk page 21:00, 14 July 2008 (EDT)
Changed above table to reflect then. - Lt. SalakUSS TigerTalk 22:02, 14 July 2008 (EDT)

Did McGregor come from Shaun Marlin or from Brian Kelly?

"Fleet Captain Rocar Drawoh | Talk"

Marlin on Indria, just double checked it. Was getting the Indria and the Ranger mixed up; Ranger was Kelly's... then Terra's, then Skye's, though was Skye simmed by Wolf? - Lt. SalakUSS TigerTalk 21:46, 8 July 2008 (EDT)
Yes, I simmed Skye briefly as we transitioned the crew elsewhere. --Wolf /talk page 21:43, 14 July 2008 (EDT)

Ok so I have him descending from Marlin and Marlin descending from Kelly... but I suspect that might be wrong. Should Marlin be on the same level as Kelly (descending from Wolf?)

Also where does Capt Vedoc fit in... is he between Hollish and Raferty?

"Fleet Captain Rocar Drawoh | Talk"

Certainly branches off Rendary, dunno if it's same level as Hollis or in between the two; just seen him on the "Kodiak" looking up Ursa Major & Kodiak-B dates. My turn to forget to sign for a change: - Lt. SalakUSS TigerTalk 22:18, 8 July 2008 (EDT)
Vedoc's between the two; Rendary commanded the original Kodiak, Cpt Vedoc had the Kodiak-A then Cmdr Hollis took that over from him before replacing it with the Kodiak-B just after Anassasi launched on the first Indy if I've pieced the profile info together right, and read the Kodiak mission logs page correctly :) - Lt. SalakUSS TigerTalk 22:21, 8 July 2008 (EDT)
Problem piecing the timeline together... there are some mentions of Anassasi as CO of the Conny, but the Indy list only shows her on the two Indys, along with Phoenix and I think possibly one other ship (not Conny). I know she'd been on Kodiak before command but I don't know bout this gap... may have to ask her. - Lt. SalakUSS TigerTalk 12:22, 9 July 2008 (EDT)

Floating CO's and Ships

Can anyone work out how to fit the following Captain's into the tree:

? Sven Tray ? Jeff Pelletier ? Adler Wong-Aquiss ? Skyfire ? San Aquiss ? Jesa Callen

I'm not sure of their ships or decendance?

"Fleet Captain Rocar Drawoh | Talk"

Based on wiki pages for respective ships;
Skyfire > "Alder" > Mike James - USS Obertha (Skyfire only) then USS Ronin (1st service, all three in turn)
Pelletier (Freedom-A) > San' Aquiss (Freedom-A, Nemesis-A, Ops) > Demma (Nemesis-A, Freedom-A (renamed Defiance, attached to DS72), Deep Space 72) > Wong-Aquiss (Nemesis-B (renamed from Defiance), NX Nemesis (Nemesis-C, aka Achilles))
Flt Cpt Sven Tray (Isannah)
Jolon (Isannah) > McHendry (temp; isannah) > Laang (Isannah, Magellan).
Alucard (Isannah) > Callen (Isannah)
...though as there's a break between each of those Isannah chains, I don't know how closely linked they are. Nor do I have any dates. - Lt. SalakUSS TigerTalk 11:34, 9 July 2008 (EDT)
Pelletier was Kanist's XO on Centris in late 1996, would seem to be on that branch of the tree. Confirmed (Reporter #6) that Flt Cpt Sven of the Isannah is the same person as Sven Tray. - Lt. SalakUSS TigerTalk 12:08, 9 July 2008 (EDT)
I'm fairly certain Adler became a CO long before Demma was. She may have taken over a vessel from Demma, but if my memory serves, that was on her second tour of duty. Originally, she descended from someone else. I would also move Pelletier's branch, as you mentioned, under Elinor. --Wolf /talk page 21:04, 14 July 2008 (EDT)
From my records, there are numerous instances of Alucard being presented awards by Jolon, so I'm going to assume he took over the Isannah from her. --Wolf /talk page 21:17, 14 July 2008 (EDT)
We also need to add Yohan Bach. He was the first CO of the Freedom at the same time that Elinor was on her first command. He was the first person to make CO after her. I believe that Pelletier, then, was Elinor's FO, and took over the Freedom from Bach after he left. Sounds like a logical progression. --Wolf /talk page 21:50, 14 July 2008 (EDT)
Uh, two different animals, Wolf. :p Jeff commanded the Freedom-A. The original Freedom was a chat ship, although I can't seem to pinpoint when/where it stopped. It was prior to moving us over to email (I have no listing for the Freedom involved when we ran Yolandaa). DCody 09:40, 8 January 2009 (EST)
BTW, you can find this information here. --Wolf /talk page 21:51, 14 July 2008 (EDT)
...whilst I've been going through only the Reporters so far. Out of town for the next week though. - Lt. SalakUSS TigerTalk 22:05, 14 July 2008 (EDT)

Names still missing

Missing a couple names: O'Malley (Hammond, Jolon trained), Demma(Multiple), Randor(StarWind, Elinor trained), Jacobs (Ithaca?), VonGrippen (untrained), Keldor (Galileo) ... did Mike James ever make command? Edward Kingson (that's me, though, and I'd rather be on the list as my Executive Council character) Tekra 13:46, 9 July 2008 (EDT)

Demma's listed under Elinor above. Mike James captained the Ronin, and thus is listed above under Alder & Skyfire, though we're not currently sure where Skyfire fits in (was he USS StarWind? Seem to recall reading bout them joining from outside or something? My memory may be mixing stuff up though). - Lt. SalakUSS TigerTalk 13:51, 9 July 2008 (EDT)

Jacobs / Ithaca

Leigha Jacobs commanded the USS Caledonia, a Prometheus class ship. I don't know definitively who she descends from, but I do show records of her receiving awards from Marlin, so it may be him. The records I have show a "Rowena Dannen" as CO of the Ithaca, but in one file I have, it is listed as a Training Ship. Not sure what the capacity was, though. It MAY have been a secondary of Jesa Callen's as the training officer at that time. I could be wrong on that, though. --Wolf /talk page 21:27, 14 July 2008 (EDT)

Reporters do mention the Ithaca as a "simming vessel" but it has appeared to be a command training ship, and indeed the listing changed to reflect it before too long. I've been a bit puzzled trying to work out where people have come from through the Ithaca, so my research through the Reporters is a bit muddled in that corner at the sec. Thanks for the insight :) - Lt. SalakUSS TigerTalk 22:09, 14 July 2008 (EDT)
I've just confirmed via my e-mail records that Rowena Dannen was actually a secondary for Randor. --Wolf /talk page 23:31, 14 July 2008 (EDT)

Curtis Arvanon

He was briefly CO of SB118 Ops after Randor, and then apparently went on to CO a ship called the USS Trinidad. That was short-lived, if memory serves. --Wolf /talk page 21:27, 14 July 2008 (EDT)

Odd... my looking through the Reporter have Arvanon on Ops, then Pelletier on Ops then Trinidad, which is mentioned in May & August '99, but not in Novemeber, so it lasted at the most, perhaps 6 months? - Lt. SalakUSS TigerTalk 22:21, 14 July 2008 (EDT)
Wow, crazy amount of work put in! Good job :) The only reference I have to Arvanon as CO of the Trinidad is from a file dated 9/23/1999, and he is definitely listed as the CO. I don't, however, remember Pelletier ever being CO of Ops, so that's weird... --Wolf /talk page 23:40, 14 July 2008 (EDT)

Reporter #22:

Report Author: Captain Curtis Arvanon
Report Source: StarBase 118 "

I may have jumped to a conclusion, but a Captain would usually be a CO? - Lt. SalakUSS TigerTalk 10:17, 15 July 2008 (EDT)

Also, Reporter #31; "With the launching of the experimental Magellan class USS Trinidad, under the command of Captain Curtis Arnavon, the crew simming on the actual starbase has changed". So that'd suggest you're right and that I'm doing this research too late at night. - Lt. SalakUSS TigerTalk 11:44, 15 July 2008 (EDT)

I located this, not sure can it be of any help Vid-Lotilija 14:00, 4 August 2012 (UTC)

Captain Curtis Arvanon: Curtis began his career in July 1996 on the USS Centris, where he rose from Ensign and reached the rank of Commander in May 1997 under Admiral Elinor of Kanist.Curtis then replaced Fleet Admiral Wolf as commander of Starbase 118 operations and reached the rank of Captain. He served at this post for some time before opting to return to ship-life and transferring to the USS Trinidad as Captain.Curtis commanded this vessel until he resigned UFOP after falling victim to increased 'real life' time demands.Curtis was a long serving and reliable command officer.

Check Reporters 19 and 20 for Skyfire. Looks like he was a Commander on the USS Arizona in #19, and then promoted to CO of the Obertha in #20. In #20, as well, Ruach is listed as being promoted to CO of the Arizona. However, there's no mention of Arizona at all in #18 or before that, which is mysterious... --Wolf /talk page 21:41, 14 July 2008 (EDT)

Caught the same problem. Arizona did get mentioned as far back as Reporter #11, but replacing the Nova as the fleet training ship. The way I see it, the Centris was decommissioned with its crew going onto a launching Arizona under Skyfire (poss his command test?) before it split the next month with Skyfire on his new ship and Kanist's new character taking on the Arizona? - Lt. SalakUSS TigerTalk 22:12, 14 July 2008 (EDT)
I'm at a loss. Most of my records from this period were static files that just showed statuses and crewlists, but I don't have one from this particular few months. The best resources for actual transitions is Reporter and award ceremonies. :( --Wolf /talk page 23:41, 14 July 2008 (EDT)
Reporter #17: Skyfire promoted to Cmdr on Ops, Centris still active. #18: Centris decommissioned (see ship report) and Elinor of Kanist retiring as a CO. #19: Arizona mentioned as a simming position on a ship report for first time, explicit mention of Commander Skyfire. #20: Kanist on Arizona, Skyfire on Obertha. I thought I'd seen a reference to the Centris crew transfering to the Arizona, but I can't see it now. - Lt. SalakUSS TigerTalk 10:34, 15 July 2008 (EDT)

Can anyone spot any mistakes in the article so far?

"Fleet Captain Rocar Drawoh | Talk"

I've been trying to add info to the list above as I've skimmed through the Reporters. Nothing glaring as yet. - Lt. SalakUSS TigerTalk 19:46, 10 July 2008 (EDT)

Wolf's place

I'm not sure it'd really be fair to list me as the original CO for everyone. For example, Brian Kelly never actually served under me -- he was brought in as a CO, on the recommendation of Elinor, to take over while she was away for a summer. If I remember correctly, he then moved on to his own ship. Pelletier would likely chafe at the idea of his legacy showing he descended from my command :) Elinor and I really worked together, more than she came from my command, although you could say that she was on my ship IC. --Wolf /talk page 21:58, 14 July 2008 (EDT)

Actually, Elinor brought him as an XO originally. That I can attest to. :) One of the hardest things to understand about the tree is for the first two years, players (and COs) had a habit of loitering with each ship's chats. It wasn't uncommon to have both Wolf, Elinor and... bless it, can't remember the 3rd CO. In my notes, we had 3 running chat sim ships running from 94 into January '95. Jeff never served under Wolf- LOL. He's Elinor's, from Ensign through LtCmdr. DCody 00:28, 8 January 2009 (EST)
So there you go -- I didn't even remember he was an XO before he was a CO. Either way, it's a weird and sketchy tree that descends from me. --Wolf /talk page 20:57, 8 January 2009 (EST)

Bach & Relic

I've got limited notes on Admiral Bach and Doug Relic. My memory is not that great anymore. You, J? :P DCody 00:35, 8 January 2009 (EST)

Anything you can add. The further back you go, the patchier the records are. Relic looks familiar, not sure I've come across Bach. - Lt Cmdr. SalakUSS TigerTalk 05:22, 8 January 2009 (EST)
Bach was, I think, third Captain after me and Elinor. Captain of the Chicago. Sven Tray was right in and around that -- Sven may have been third or fourth. --Wolf /talk page 20:52, 8 January 2009 (EST)
Well, I've got Phoenix, Centris, and Alliance in that order. Makes Sven fourth. I did not know Tyve inherited the Chicago from Bach, though. ;) We need to do something about Chicago. What I put up was out of the Reporters. DCody 20:56, 8 January 2009 (EST)

Update required?

Was looking at the tree (impressive btw) and saw that some stuff did change, like Gemini is not around (Or I am blind) and with the new arrival of Za. Thought this might need an update.
