Ensign Taelon is an El-Aurian currently serving as a science officer aboard Starbase 118 Ops & her support ship, the USS Albion. He is a recent graduate of the Academy, with Starbase 118 being his first posting. He specializes in Exotechnology, with a focus in robotics and cybernetics.

Taelon is quite tall and lanky in build, and tends to carry himself slightly hunched and drawn in, as if in a subconscious attempt to make himself seem smaller. He has notably long legs and rather bony joints.

As is common among the El-Aurian culture his family hailed from, he has notable body modifications. At the moment they merely consist of a line of piercings along the bridge and length of his nose, and geometric tattoos on his forearms.

	Personality

Taelon is generally a warm and genial sort - and notably self-effacing. Despite his age, he acts and feels rather less mature than his colleagues. A combination of an isolated, colonial upbringing and a lack of real world experience have left him knowledgeable on scientific fronts, but ultimately naive and untested. He is extremely aware of this - perhaps too aware, as his lack of confidence in his own abilities and place among his colleagues borders on crippling.

As a scientist he is skilled and dedicated to his work, often working extremely long hours and dedicating himself wholly to a problem until he is satisfied with his results. He has trouble sleeping on the best nights and will often forgo it entirely if there's work to be done. Since being introduced to it by the human colonists on Cestus III, Taelon has slowly developed something of an addiction to coffee.

	Family

Taelon's family is a complex matter for him; he left his mother's compound only recently, and their relationship is still strained. HIs other relatives are distant and busy, and are largely and unknown to him. While he had a longing to be closer to his family, so far all those he's met tend to dimish him in one way or another. Nowadays he generally tries to avoid all of them except his father.

Mother: Azera, a scientist living on Cestus III in a self-imposed exile. While technically the head of their family and clan, she keeps to herself and her obsessions. Father: Jakarn, a popular holonovelist and producer who contrasts his mother considerably by being friendly, gregarious and a bit overwhelming. Taelon only got to know him recently and didn't meet him til Taelon was in his teens. Aunt: Ajora, who studies the scripts and lore of developing species. She too travels the quadrants, and is usually in the Delta Quadrant. His uncles, Hadjan and Korran, travel with her. Cousins: Ajora's children are a scattered bunch; Taelon only knows of them.

Half-Siblings: A very complex matter. His father has many, many half-breed children, including Ishani Kasun, who also serves aboard the Starbase. Taelon doesn't actually have any idea how many half-sisters or half-brothers he might have. His usual estimate is in the 50s.

	Relationships

As Taelon is only a recent arrival, he does not have any notable relationships as of yet.

	History

2358	Born on the Federation colony of Cestus III.
2363	Began attending the colony’s school alongside human children his age.
2365	Met his father for the first time. The two maintain a correspondence, albeit an infrequent one.
2368	Began to be tutored by his mother with the expectation he would assist her with her research. Through her he began to learn xenobiology and xenotech, though he failed to grasp the concepts as quickly as she’d hoped.
2376	Graduated from the standard colony school.
2376 - 2388	Stayed on Cestus III as his mother’s assistant, continuing his training in xenotech and xenobiological procedures.
2388	After a disagreement with his mother turned violent, Taelon chose to leave Cestus III and attend Starfleet Academy despite her protests.
2388 - 2393	Starfleet Academy years; took an extra year at the Academy to complete a Minor in Xenolinguistics.
2393	Graduated from the Academy & departed for Starbase 118, joining the station’s crew after his cadet cruise.
