The 401st Fighter Wing

The 401st Fighter wing was put into place at the same time as the 118th Tactical Marine Division, again as a pilot program to test large scale Marine fighter operations as a main line of defence for a Federation Station, and synchronizing Marine operations with Federation Operations.

To facilitate the synchronizing, the stations command staff also acts as the upper levels of the Wings chain of command in title. The squadron commanders pick up the majority of the work. The operations of maintaining the fighter wing is also tied in with the stations engineering department, with both marines and star fleet personal assisting each other where needed.

Size and Format

The 401st Fighter Wing is divided into multiple squadrons based upon the type of fighters:

3 'Eagle' Class Fighter squadrons with 25 single seat 'A' models. 5 duel seat 'B' models (training) per squadron;

3 'Peregrine' Class Fighter squadrons, 40 fighters in each;

3 'Argo' Class transport, configurable for either ATV use or troop transport. 5 transports in each;

1 Mixed squadron. 10 Eagle , 5 Peregrine, 2 Argo. Currently assigned to the USS Victory;

242 craft in total

Each squadron contains its own personal for both flight ops and maintenance. Despite having their own crews, most personal are trained to operate all types of equipment, and may use other types when needed.
