Towards the end of 2010 the old leader of the SDC stepped down and I was given the chance to step up and become the new leader of the SDC. I had been a member of the group for about a year. During that time I created a few original species for use in the Starbase 118 universe.
The first thing I did when I became the new Director of the SDC was to start up a number of chats regarding the creation of a standard format for all species. What needed to be included, what sections should we have, how it should be laid out, etc. This turned out to be a very lengthy process and through trial and error the current wiki layout was selected, tweaked and altered till it met with the general approval of all involved. More than 7 months of debate went into its creation.
Following that we started the lengthy process of rewriting and updating all the species pages. We knew in advance that it was not going to be an easy task but it was one worth doing and worth doing well. I want to thank everyone who was involved in the creation of the new format and the new directives that govern how the SDC operates.
