The Dark is a species of Romulan origin but will strong telepathic traits. They were hunted down by the Romulan Tal Shiar for extermination, but Ael and her husband, Rhian, were among the few who escaped and sought refuge with the Federation. Ael was the first of her kind to give birth to a pure bred Dabh'aelisuian. A son destined to be a Leader of The Dark.
