T'Raene did not expect to end up in starfleet, at first preferring a civilian lifestyle and was recommended to join later on than most due to her bond-partner, who was a medical officer in Starfleet. T'Raene did not expect to end up in starfleet, at first preferring a civilian lifestyle and was recommended to join later on than most due to her bond-partner's involvement in Starfleet, who was a medical officer in Starfleet. She completed a Nurse's degree easily and was near the end of her doctor's degree when an attack by Romulans on her bond-mate's ship resulted in the latter's death.

She was visiting his ship on the way to a medical conference to finish off a report when the ship was attacked by a Romulan scout just outside the neutral zone. Her husband was killed in the attack and T'Raene stepped into his position for the battle, serving where she could. When the battle was over and the scouts captured she was offered a position at the starfleet academy as a medical student by the head of the department.
She was visiting the ship on the way to a medical conference to finish off a report when the ship was attacked by a Romulan scout just outside the neutral zone. Her husband was killed in the attack and T'Raene calmly carried out a nurse's duties. When the battle was over and the scouts captured she was offered a position at the starfleet academy as a medical student by the head of the department.

By the time she had recovered from the unexpected level of grief it was by far too late for her to complete the course for her doctor's degree. As a result T'Raene reasoned that as she knew the content of the course and could complete it capably then it would be pointless to go through the four years again simply for the title. As such she has basically lost interest in becoming a doctor, and trying for it again might raise painful memories for her, though naturally she would never admit this even to herself.
By the time she had recovered from the shock of losing it was by far too late for her to complete the course for her doctor's degree. As a result T'Raene reasoned that as she knew the content of the course and could complete it capably then it would be pointless to go through the four years again simply for the title. As such she is an unofficial Doctor and a verified Nurse Practitioner.

As such T'Raene works at the knowledge level of a doctor yet remains as a Nurse with no intention of aspiration, instead dedicating her life to helping those she can in order to help the families affected by any deaths. T'Raene is known to be particularly protective of children though holds off with a Vulcan's discipline.
